This is so lovely! It gave me sentimental feelings from older movies I watched as a child~

Thank you! I was really influenced by some book covers I saw that reminded me of the stories I read as a middle schooler. So I think I know what you mean!

You know what, I think I havenβt deleted the unmerged files yet. When I get home Iβll check to see if the layers are in there somewhere!
But itβs pretty simple, just throw on soft colors like yellower green in the center w/ bluer green around the outer area and then create the edges with shadow Β

when you say edges do you mean of the illustration like where the sun isn't reaching or for each individual plant

Sorry that wasnβt very clear, I meant the edges of the plants! The colors and details can be messy since it looks fine when you zoom out. What I really do is study how the plant works and then guesstimate without 100% following references, applying the knowledge. Light passing through the leaf is usually a warmer color (little more yellow+saturation) when you look at the underside and light hitting the top of the leaf can have more of a glossy white because of the waxy cuticle. So if the color is a warmer green then I may put bluer greens around it to define the edge of the leaf and shadows. If I go darker towards black for a shadow, I always add some saturation back into what Iβm using.
here is the grass full size for now:Β sta.sh/02f70dk4redwΒ
I know I can be long-winded and pretty confusing, so I think pictures are going to be necessary ><
