You know what, I think I haven’t deleted the unmerged files yet. When I get home I’ll check to see if the layers are in there somewhere!

But it’s pretty simple, just throw on soft colors like yellower green in the center w/ bluer green around the outer area and then create the edges with shadow

when you say edges do you mean of the illustration like where the sun isn't reaching or for each individual plant

Sorry that wasn’t very clear, I meant the edges of the plants! The colors and details can be messy since it looks fine when you zoom out. What I really do is study how the plant works and then guesstimate without 100% following references, applying the knowledge. Light passing through the leaf is usually a warmer color (little more yellow+saturation) when you look at the underside and light hitting the top of the leaf can have more of a glossy white because of the waxy cuticle. So if the color is a warmer green then I may put bluer greens around it to define the edge of the leaf and shadows. If I go darker towards black for a shadow, I always add some saturation back into what I’m using.
