Description
TRANSFORMERS: IGNITION - Optimus Prime (Vehicle Mode)Turnaround of the design of Optimus Prime's vehicle mode. Although I have nothing against Prime having a long-nose truck form like the Laser Rod, Movie and TFPrime incarnations, and its not ruled out that he can't get one down the road, I wanted to have a more nostalgic feel at the start so it was important that he transform unto a flat-nosed, COE truck.

Sweet truck man! But a few questions- 1) Can we get a version with a trailer? 2)Custom license plate/ bumper stickers? 3) Will there be a Powermaster Prime? Again, Great job and I look forward to your future works

1) Trailer coming eventually, I promise, but just not at the start, but he's gotta get a trailer eventually! Lots of characters starting out a wee bit different at first, but things can change... Examples: Sunstreaker just a yellow recolour of Sideswipe and not his own unique transformation? Dirge, Ramjet and Thrust WITHOUT coneheads? Megatron with a piddly wussy arm cannon? SHOCKWAVE WITH A FACE??!!!
2) Probably not, I usually skip those or simplify them or only use them in extreme EXTREME closeups
3) I am looking into a take on Powermaster Prime/combining with trailer but it's a while off. But I will be getting into trailer armor and other add-on thingys with some characters before getting to Prime. Gotta make him tough as he is first lol

It certainly fits the style of the rest of your designs but this exhibits something I've grown to hate from Transformers as of late, and that is a disconcern for limitations of either mode's proportions. Put simply, I can't see the robot mode going to this and back without parts either passing through each other like a poorly-thought-out CGI model, or outright shapeshifting.
Just a pet-peeve. Otherwise it's fine.

The Radicons is a subforum on TFW2005, where people post their customs, from simple paintjobs to heavily-modified and scratchbuilt TFs.

Who else will be appearing in your series?
Other than the humans.

Not to give too much away (I have to keep some secrets, lol), but at the start, all Autobots and Decepticons from 1984 will be there, as well as a few added surprises, especially on the Decepticon side of things as I really needed to pad out their roster to outnumber the Autobots at the start, some of the Decepticons will in fact be takes on characters that originated in later TF series. After the first story arc is over, the floodgates open and there will be a much larger roster of characters for me to play with. If you have any specific names that you are curious if they will be making appearances, feel free to ask, I can either confirm it or politely say "no comment" due to spoilers, but either way I can at least give you some ideas if there's anyone specific you are looking forward to

-----
ALLIANCE: Autobots, Optimus' Team, his own team of train-bots. Former Decepticon
FUNCTION: Transport, Inventor, Mechanic
PERSONALITY: Quiet, Calm, and somewhat cold (and for good reason) But really is quite friendly and caring for other life forms.
ALT. MODE: Steam Locotmove --> [link]
WEAPONS: 2 Electro-swords (on back) His trademark weapons, capable of shocking and overloading a transformers' circuits in one slice or stab.
Multi-purpose Electro-blasters (both arms) Capable of not only battle-mode, but numerous other functions like signal beams, freeze rays, lasers, and repairing.
Electromagnets (both arms) Capable of levitating anything metal as well as able to open force fields.
Energon hook-blades (both arms) Can be swung around on chains for long-ranged melee attack and useful for climbing because of the shape.
Cosmic Rust Blaster (on left arm) Can destroy a transformer in one shot by making them rust and fall apart, but sometimes needs more shots for stronger transformers (like Megatron or Ironhide)
Fusion Cannon (on right arm, taken from Megatron) Highly destructive, just like Megatron's cannon.
STORY:
During the start of the great war, Electrostorm was on the Decepticons' side and acted as a transport device. At one point, Electrostorm was betrayed by a Decepticon called Astrotrain, at that point, Electrostorm quit the Decepticons and joined the Autobots instead, ever since Astrotrain's betrayal, Electrostorm is often seen wearing a cloak to hide his appearance, but it's removed for when in vehicle mode. Electrostorm is quite easy to point out of the Autobots because of a triangle-shaped TV-screen-like visor on his face (much like the one Soundwave had in Transformers: Prime). Electrostorm not only functioned as a transport device, but he was a skilled inventor and could make incredible weapons. He has a pair of electricity-shooting ray guns capable of doing various jobs (not just for fighting) along with some Electro-swords, blades capable of shooting electricity and overloading a transformer's circuits upon contact (slice or stab). During the fight, Electrostorm managed to defeat a lot of super-dangerous Decepticons, one of which was Shockwave. After nearly killing the one-eyed robot, Electrostorm took Shockwave's single eye and added to himself to use. Electrostorm even encountered Astrotrain again, who was accompanied by Megatron. Even though he was outnumbered, Electrostorm surprisingly managed to defeat them both thanks to a cosmic rust cannon he got from a previous battle. Then Electrostorm took Megatron's own fusion cannon and added it to his collection. While in the "Wilds" of Cybertron, Electrostorm encountered 2 animal like transformers, one resembling a wolf, and the other resembling a one-eyed jaguar. He took them in as partners/pets and used them to help with assignments that were too "small" for him. When Optimus headed out to search for the Allspark, Electrostorm was one of the many to join the search for it and helped greatly as he was somehow able to detect where the Allspark was. After arriving on Earth, Electrostorm took the form of a Steam Locomotive to suit in with the planet. While exploring a railway yard, Electrostorm encountered a human who would later be one of the 10 humans that help the Autobots (Sorta like Spike, Sari, Jack Darby, etc.) and formed a friendship-like bond with the human along the way (Electrostorm even helped the human with a Solar System model by simply holding up the planets by strings). While mining for energon, Electrostorm got help from nearby trains in getting the energon to base by leading their cars with it. After the mine had been stripped, the locomotives remained at the Autobots' base until they were needed. Later, after the Allspark had split into fragments, some of the fragments got into the trains and brought them to life. The new Transformers had only one purpose: To serve Electrostorm as he recruited them by installing voice-activated command systems on them, this group of train-bots soon became known as Rail Force with Electrostorm as the leader. Much later in the series, everyone finds out that Electrostorm wasn't great in battles because of his weapons, but because of a special and very rare type of energon that he ran on called Light Energon. Electrostorm's optics were obviously yellow (even after Shockwave's optic was installed), but his eyes were often red (fromer Decepticon of course) to hide the fact of running on Light Energon. Electrostorm surprisingly had the arm of a Prime installed on him so he could use a special hammer to forge many things from any piece of Cybertronian orgin, Electrostorm used the hammer to create a powerful weapon called the Light Star Saber out of simple Light Energon and he gave to Optimus to help him in overpowering Megatron's Dark Star Saber when in battle. (No further spoilers/ideas)

It's because this design is just plain in our DNA at this point. I agree that there's nothing wrong with the movie or other newer designs. But this is JUST PRIME. It's like seeing your dad -- you just KNOW IT. And there's no wondering if it's "right" or not.
Love it. Great job keepin' it real.

Exactly, it just doesn't feel nostalgic enough to my inner 1980s child if it isn't. If it is, it just feels right. And a weird thing, its all about the square front headlights. Just make it feel like the G1 cartoon, even with the different overall design

While the flat noe apeals to me I don't really have a problem with the peterbit, after all they need to scan car actually running about and flatnoses are harder to find, and it has to fit who they are, fit they robot form. But by that same token the idea of BUmblebee being a camero always strikes me as off. That's Hotrod, or wheel jack. Bumble Bee needs to be the compact, like the mini cooper, or new beetle, or at least a Pries if you want to go with Cool.

Bumblebee will definitely be staying a compact car in this series I agree, Bumblebee just doesn't feel like old-school Bumblebee if you make him a bigger car. Although I've considering using a Camaro type car for Hot Shot down the road.

I'm also not much of a fan of the trend of giving each one unique forms, i liked the G1s use of the same model for PRime/Magnus, Cliff/Bee/etc. have the Robot forms use the same base differently some having door wings, some having door arms is fine, but the same base vehicle mode.

YES. So very THIS. I can not figure it out why either, but I feel EXACTLY the same, there's things specifically there in this design just because of that specifically the square front headlights and the overall dimensions of the front windshields. Doing that just made me go "still feels like it's HIM"

In England, we have virtually no long-nosed trucks. I was on the motorway a couple days ago and almost every truck we have here were flat-nosed, many were split-windowed too! (Some were exactly Optimus' colours too )

Spikeprime In reply to KrisSmithDW [2013-08-24 18:27:57 +0000 UTC]
Reason is, British roads and motorways just aren't as long as the U.S. freeways, meaning that the drivers don't need big rigs or semis to sleep in for the longer journeys. Plus we don't have as much produce for transport in our various towns because they're smaller with fewer people living in them. Soooo never fear, in England, the flat-nosed truck will never die for as long as we need trucks at all!

I see em every now and then at the airport. Usually for cargo transports since they're older and last a bit longer than the pelterbits when it comes to hauling freight for airplanes.... they're still out there, bit I think they are because they haven't been run into the ground yet.

Sounds about right, they would have been 1970s and 1980s models and many vehicles from that era were still built to last (unlike today's stuff).
