By the looks of his face and stand...i would say that Jaunne has snap from either loosing another love one, or being rejected, taunt, or had enough from being weak. He decided to get his head in the game, to start taking things very serious, and train to be the best and fear warrior he wanted to be.
I can imagine him remembering Phyrra, and vowing never again he'll lose another one.
