Description
This is my submission to Championship, details about which you can find at this [link] .The piece is my representation of a chastity belt, a largely mythical device which has actually been produced and used more widely in the last 2 centuries and almost never (if at all) in medieval times.
My word is "overreact" so the connection to a man's overreaction to his fears and insecurities is easy to see.
The other aspect of overreaction in relation to this piece is the use of chastity belts and similar devices against masturbation. Which was (and still is among many) considered to be a sin and dangerous to one's health.
Here you can see the piece on a home made "mannequin".
The materials used were stainless steel sheet, copper sheet, bronze sheet, brass and aluminum rivets, aluminum rings and stainless steel chain.

Not really. I've just not been in the mood for much. I was looking on etsy and as ever I'm never sure if it's more frustrating how many people are so beyond my skills or how many sell utter crap and sell well. But I'd seen a lot of the glass cabs with designs behind kind of deal. I like the idea, but rarely agree with the style choices, so was looking into playing with that. (Like I saw this bracelet with paintings inspired by shakespeare's plays, which I thought was so much fun, but then the persona added all these plastic beads and charms that didn't fit the idea. Ick. So I'm trying to use the idea with the painters I like and better beads/charms. Of course, where I'm gonna find hawk and handsaw charms is beyond me. ) But it's adding up quickly without going very well. I liked the idea of wrapping with cheaper cabs, and the fact that a lot of my favorite arts are considered public domain now... I mean, I was so excited to find those rackham beads to wrap.

Hm, do you have a photo of the beads you're talking about? I don't think I ever seen anything along those lines. You know, I completely stopped looking at others' stores because its just way too depressing

[link] Is the one where I love the idea and hate the execution. And [link] is an example of the putting paper behind glass thing I was talking about. It seemed like a neat charm option. What I've been trying is doing that but instead of gluing into premade settings, I wanted to make cabs to wrap.

So do they make those cabs? Is it basically printed images with doming resin?

I'm pretty sure it's all bought pieces. I've found all the parts for sale on etsy. The square one with the frame could be doming resin, but I think the others are assembled.
