Sweeeeeeeeeeet this tutorial is awesome!!
Out of curiosity, how do you attach the wings to yourself? Did you just attach it to your jacket or something after covering the little plastic piece with feathers (which I think is what you did...)

That's basically it! They are glued right into the back of the jacket, with straps underneath for extra support. ^.^

Hello! Sorry to bother you, but I have a question. I've made them according to your instructions, but I seem to have caught a snag and gotten stuck.
I don't quite understand what you did for the back of the wings. Did you just put fabric over it or did you repeat the feather process? I'd really appreciate a reply, because right now I just have open mesh on the back that I don't quite know what to do with. Thank you for this fabulous tutorial! It's really made my cosplay come together!

Hey there! I repeated the same feather pattern on the back of the wings. Covering with fabric would probably also work fine. Good luck!

Hey there, I depends on the size of them really. A pair about the same size at the Gilda wings would cost around $200 plus shipping.

Hi! Great tutorial! If you had to guesstimate, about how many packs of feathers do you think you ended up needing? I'm trying to figure out how many .3 ounce bags of feathers I should buy Thank you!

Hey there! Sorry it took me a while to respond! I used about 2 packs of both the medium and large feathers, and one pack of the small fluffy ones. ^.^

Hello!!! I just wanted to say that this tutorial was a HUGE help to me! I created wings for a Princess Cadance cosplay based on this tutorial. If you'd like to see some of the images, you can find them floating here: [link] [link]
I had to improvise though, I waited too long to get all the feathers, so I didn't have time to buy in bulk and have them shipped. I cleaned out three hobby stores of all their white feathers (surprisingly, that's not a lot) and dyed them all a very soft pink. But anyway, thanks so much for taking the time to make this!

Hello,
I don't really get how to attach the wings when they are done..
Do you put them on the clothes you wear? Or can you never take them off? ( are the always on the same clothes) xD

Quick question! And I may have missed this... but how did you attach the feathers to the chicken wire? Hot glue?

That is amazing, so simple and cheap! I'm defiantly going to use this in my next Halloween costume! Only one question for you, how would you make full body length ones?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
Kukuzilla In reply to ZombieResponsTeam [2012-12-21 01:06:41 +0000 UTC]
Thanks!
For full body wings you would just need to make sure you have a really strong support piece and a lot more mesh and wire.

I think the best part of this tutorial was the LOL Cat break. It's needed, since the tutorial seems hard work (which is totally worth the result)!

Wonderful! Very clear and simple, I like it. ^-^ It's not expensive, I would be guessing that this would cost not more that 10$! And you don't need to be an expert in crafting to do this, so thank you! Now, I'm gonna use this for my Halloween costume.
