I'm in sort of a time crunch- would my wig be somewhat deshined in less than five days?

This is fantastic! Thank you!

One question though; will this damage the wig?

Depending on what the wig is, it seems to sometimes discolor it.

mine has a strong smell, is there something that could be done about it?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

CattyMcNuggets In reply to kiryuinsatsuki [2015-07-04 01:15:40 +0000 UTC]

Try using some fabric softener that has a nice smell.
Or even just wash with the shampoo you use every day (Better if you use a high end brand for the wig)

The result looks fantastic, I'm playing with some cheap wigs I bought during Halloween, does it have to be 5 days in the bucket, or can it just be long enough to make sure the whole wig is coated?

2 questions, Is this a cheap party wig?
Also Could you use Baby Powder instead of talc?

👍: 0 ⏩: 2

Supernaturalforce In reply to KristaBabyDollBrown [2014-12-12 03:15:50 +0000 UTC]

Talco is baby powder. Its just in Spanish.

Ivyra In reply to KristaBabyDollBrown [2014-12-09 03:23:02 +0000 UTC]

baby powder is pretty much the same thing, if you have a very dark wig you may want to get a translucent powder from a makeup aisle or something.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

blitzhellion In reply to MadameRobelina [2014-10-04 12:49:56 +0000 UTC]

Shiny wigs often look very synthetic and plastic-y in photos, especially with flash cameras. Cheap wigs in particular get that almost "glittery" look which you would never see in real hair.

What is the talco for? Just curious.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BlueRaven16 In reply to AkemiYukimura [2014-10-20 02:22:16 +0000 UTC]

It helps remove the shine. You how powdered foundation removes shininess from your face? It's the same idea

👍: 0 ⏩: 0

Sarahh92 [2014-08-24 19:22:04 +0000 UTC]

This is a brilliant tutorial but very unclear and the question still seems to go unanswered: after the 5 days, you you rinse the wig? Also, does the talc just get used while styling, or do you add it with the fabric softener?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ivyra In reply to Sarahh92 [2014-12-09 03:21:56 +0000 UTC]

You do not rinse the wig, the talc goes on after. Some people recommend putting it on your (dry) hands and gently combing through the dry wig. both coat the wig fibers just slightly and create a matte look.

UGH.Ayuda.

LethielArt [2014-07-15 06:48:03 +0000 UTC]

So, after removing the wig from the bucket, you DON'T wash out the fabric softener and you simply add Talc?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ivyra In reply to LethielArt [2014-12-09 03:33:26 +0000 UTC]

correct, and let it totally dry before applying the talc

Alexamadden In reply to sabrina200415 [2014-07-01 17:37:21 +0000 UTC]

What if I have a long haired wig? I'm buying www.amazon.com/MapofBeauty-Cha… this, and I don't know if it'll shine or not. I plan on trying this on my short haired wig first, since I like to try things for myself (not because I don't believe you or anything, since this clearly worked amazingly on your wig), but I would like to know if I should add more fabric softener for a long haired wig or what not. The website says it's approximately 70 cm.

theawesomelights In reply to floofeymarshmallow [2014-06-19 15:46:37 +0000 UTC]

If you have to soak the long wig then adding a bit more fabric softener might work better. Maybe a tablespoons worth?

I'm a little confused as to when the talc goes on :/ do you brush it in after the wig dries? But this could very well save my Konan cosplay :'D the wig I got looks horrendous... looked completely different online (I HATE shiny wigs)

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Ivyra In reply to ItachiElric [2014-12-09 03:32:00 +0000 UTC]

you have it correct, gently apply the talc after the wig is dry, I have seen recommendations to either brush it on with a make-up brush or put it on your hands and gently comb through the wig until it is coated.
