Description
The lesser coat of arms of the Empire of Einesraum. The colours were basically copied from the banner of the Holy Roman Empire, and Einesraum is similar to the HRE in a lot of ways. The Imperial Crown of Einesraum was based mostly off the Imperial Crown of Brazil, though not very heavily. The coat of arms itself is taken from an old legend, in which a mighty hero defeated an evil black dragon and then enslaved it for his own just purposes. Generally the black dragon is thought to symbolise power, and the two bands around its neck symbolises its enslavement and control by the Empire.
In the early years of the Empire the power of the Emperor was much greater than it is today, and the dragon was seen as a symbol of the Empire as a whole and of the Empire as a whole alone. It was convention that only the Empire was allowed to use the symbol of the dragon in its coat of arms; the greatest symbol any country within the Empire could use was a wyvern or two-legged dragon. As the Emperor's power has waned the dragon has been used by some of the more powerful countries and royal houses within Einesraum, most notably the Kingdom of Lothsgarraum (full name: "The Lands in the South under the Blessed Crown of Saint Lothsgar"). It is still convention that no heraldic dragon may be coloured black and placed on a field of yellow or sport as many claws on its feet as that of the Imperial Dragon.
