I just finished a new battle background for mountains.I wanted to test it out so I did this.
Personally, I think this is awesome, it's such a shame Nintendo wont use proper battle backgrounds.
Hope you like! Turtwig and Bastiodon rule btw.
I did NOT make the pokemon sprites/animations. Nintendo did. Credits to Jefelin for the rips.

No way, I like the backgrounds as they are. Besides, then a lot of moves wouldn't make sense and they'd have to alter attacks effectiveness based on terrain and other things that would make the game to complicated for the younger audience to handle.

That's fair enough. I don't see why moves would be affected at all though. There's no reason why you can't keep moves the same.

Someday later down the line they'll get around to something like this. It's a genius idea. You did a great job on the sprite work. That background looks like it could be a legit apart of the game! Are you thinking about doing other terrains?

it should be like this! its cool that they have the pokemon moving constantly, but they should have updated the backgrounds.

it would take up a lot less I think as it's just an image. It must take up a lot more space to do rendered 3D backgrounds like they have.

Well I'm not so sure...using the 3D means lower textures since it's the DS. Fewer pixels per polygon...then again I'm not expert.
Still your design looks amazing. it is a shame they never implimented anything like this

That would be really great. But it would be even more awesome if they completely rehauled the battle system to be more tactical, at least a little like in Mystery Dungeon games.
