I just finished a new battle background for mountains.I wanted to test it out so I did this.
Personally, I think this is awesome, it's such a shame Nintendo wont use proper battle backgrounds.
Hope you like! Turtwig and Bastiodon rule btw.
I did NOT make the pokemon sprites/animations. Nintendo did. Credits to Jefelin for the rips.

Also, I can't get past the drop shadow issue. The way the sprites are shaded, the light is coming from in front of them, but then their harsh shadows land in front of them... It's such a derpy error!

I totally agree with you. It's some of the few things that dissapoint me about Pokemon. All backgrounds end up being a three color, simplistic lines at the background. That one is awesome, however! Turtwig and Bastiodon FTW!

Awesome, looks AMAZING!!!!! The only thing I don't get is how spriters on dA have the the patience to make things like you just did above ^, but Nintendo is to lazy to. Otherwise, I love Nintendo for making Pokemon.

Seriously? They're lazy? They said that the hardest part of making the games was animate all the sprites ingame (both back and front), so I simply can't accept people to say that they're lazy... if everybody complained about something (like you guys want a better background), then the whole game might be a bounch of lazyness XD

I think the best part of this is not just how good the background is but for the fact that there is a foreground too. It makes the battle seem to be in the forest instead of in front of one.

Agreed--those Black and White Backgrounds look SUPER DUPER TACKY.
I could at least tolerate the 4th gen ones--they at least gave a feel for the background and looked decent...but...The BW ones really seem like a step backward.
