“AERIS! AERIS! SWITCH! ZELDA! MARIO! 8 PLAYERS!”

Leo was going crazy, stumbling over his words in excitement, jumping and flailing around Aeris.

“Geez! Calm down! You look like you are having a stroke.” she simply replied. The pink furred cat was used to the antics of her childhood friend and roommate. She took off her coat and shoes, just wanting to unwind after a long day, but Leo had other plans: He orbited around her, spewing out weird tech buzz-words, but as they were both huge gamers, she knew exactly what he talked about.

It was January and the Switch, Nintendo’s latest console just had its big new announcement event and as Leo was a big Nintendo fan, he watched the whole stream live, totally giving into the hype. A lot of features and details, as well as new games, were announced, making him more and more excited for the new console. And he was eager to share that excitement.

Aeris had poured herself a soda and plopped down on the couch. She was wearing her yellow and green hoodie, ready to kick back and maybe enjoy an episode of True Blood. But Leo was still hovering over her.

“It’s so awesome. I haven’t been that excited about a Nintendo console since the Wii! Just imagine it: You can take it anywhere, just take it out of the dock and the console itself has a screen! No base-unit like the WiiU!”

- “Great, then maybe you won’t hog the TV as much.”

“And they got a new Mario game and a new Zelda game, which both look amazing!~”

- “Zelda and Mario. From Nintendo. What a surprise.”

“And you get to play free games with their new online service!”

- “So they might actually catch up on Xbox Live and Playstation Plus.”

“And you can connect with up to eight friends to play together!”

Aeris' eye twitched. She had enough, turned to Leo and just yelled:

“SO WHAT? You don’t even have eight friends who would wanna play with you!”

Startled, Leo had finally shut up. Aeris could definitely be a buzzkill - and outright violent to him. But she usually did not use words. Somehow this hurt him even more. Mostly because he knew there was some truth in her words. He never really had a lot of friends. Sure there were some … let’s say, acquaintances, like the weird dude with the pants on his head. But were they actually friends?

Defeated he sunk back into the couch. Aeris felt bad, she realized she went too far. Once again she had let her temper get the best of her and in turn hurt the one who so often got to be the target of her abuse.

“Look, Leo. I’m sorry. I didn't mean to...” Leo just shot her a hurt look.

Aeris sighed, getting up.

“I’m gonna take a shower. How about you go and watch that Zelda trailer again, hm?”

Leo didn’t react, he just waited until Aeris left the room.

The warm water felt cleansing as it just washed the long workday’s worries away. Despite not exactly living the healthiest lifestyle, Aeris had a very lean and limber body that she definitely didn't need to hide. She took time and care to shampoo her pink hair, it's color matching the pink fur that covered the majority of her body. Then she took to soaping up her torso, working down from her young and perky breasts. As she reached the white fur of her stomach, she noticed that it seemed a bit bloated. Her usually slim belly had an almost arching curve to it.

“Must be some bloating from the soda,” she brushed it off, not giving the slight change in her physique another thought.

---

Not long after Aeris stepped out of the bathroom, having changed into comfortable sweatpants and a loose shirt, a towel wrapped around her head, ready to let this day end. She saw that Leo was sitting in front of his computer, and still felt bad for what she said to him. Deciding to make up she approached him but couldn’t help but notice that her gray friend seemed like all was forgotten.

“Hey,” she said cautiously.

“Hey," He said, almost giddy, and continued. “I did it.”

“You did what?” Aeris was confused.

Leo swiveled his computer chair to face her.

“I preordered the Switch! Just like 10 minutes ago. Got a special deal too.” He said grinning mysteriously.

“Special deal? What kind of special deal?”

Aeris ears twitched a little, as she feared the worst, knowing Leo. He pointed at an email he had open on his screen.

“I found this pre-seller, called itself the ‘Switch-Witch’, pretty original, eh?” Aeris hated puns so she just kept staring at Leo skeptically. Leo continued unfazed:

“Anyway, I ordered the bundle, Zelda and Mario Kart. And the Switch-Witch site says they have a magical deal that includes all the friends you need to play with - with no extra charge!”

Aeris couldn’t take it anymore. She smacked her palm on her forehead and let out a long groan, leaning back a bit. Her pose showed a bulge in her shirt around her abdomen to Leo, but he was too happy with his recent purchase to notice.

Aeris began to lecture: “Seriously Leo, Including players in a pre-order? How would that even work? And besides…. that name, the ‘Switch Witch, do you seriously not realize that it has SCAM written all over it in bright red letters?”

Leo turned sour again. “Did you just come here to belittle me? Why do you even care? It’s my console, my pre-order. I didn’t even count you in to have the full eight friends to play with, so why don’t you just leave me alone!”

The pink-furred girl put her ears flat, realizing too late that all she did was upsetting her friend and roommate for the second time today. It was probably the best to give him some space.

“I...I.... Good night, Leo.” Aeris looked down to the floor and left to her bedroom.

---

Leo didn’t sleep well that night. He had this vivid dream.

He was finally playing the Nintendo Switch, Mario Kart to be precise. But it felt very familiar to him like the whole activity was nothing new. He knew all the functions and the game by heart.

Then there were others around him, the other players. Their shapes were fuzzy but they seemed to look like him and Aeris. Cats in a variety of colors, like skin-variations in a Smash Bros. game. He played the game with them but they seemed to be younger than him - or was he older? Leo felt somehow responsible for them. It was stressing him out, but it also made him feel… proud?

He tossed and turned in bed as soon other calmer sleep took over.

---

The sunlight was tickling his whiskers as Leo finally woke up. Still confused from his dream he slowly got up, trying to clear his mind. Shuffling slowly to the kitchen he poured himself a cup of coffee as he heard someone call out for him.

“Leo? Are you finally up? Could you come over here?”

He looked over to the living room area where he saw the back of Aeris' head. Just answering with a grunt he started his way over to his roommate, noticing that the TV is on a paused game of Portal 2.

“What do you want? You know I’m no use in that game,” he remarked as he walked up next to the couch, still staring at the screen.

“No, Leo. I wanted to ask you about you about your preorder yesterday.”

This is the first time Leo actually looked at Aeris. His hand immediately lost the little strength it needed to hold his coffee cup, letting it fall and shatter on the floor.

The pink catgirl is staring daggers at him, a vein on her forehead about to pop - a familiar sight for Leo, but the rest of her seemed very different. She was wearing a Mass Effect t-shirt that only manages to cover up the top third of her extraordinarily huge belly. The enormous dome sat heavily between her legs, seemingly trapping her on the couch. A popped-out belly button marks it’s center, pointing slightly upward due to Aeris’ reclined pose. At her size, Leo had doubts she could even reach it with her hands. Instead, they were resting on top of her swollen womb, on hand balancing a controller on this natural shelf.

“Leo. Do you hear me?”

“Huh?” he finally managed to look at her eyes again, something that definitely made him feel way worse than looking at her miraculous pregnancy. He also just now noticed the bag of chips, popcorn, and soda around her, all positioned to be within her reach, as the over encumbered gamer’s mobility was surely limited.

“What the hell happened to you?”

“Do you have to ask!? I’m pregnant! Ridiculously so! I woke up ready to drop and only got bigger during the morning.”

Leo’s simple mind was completely overburdened with this new development, he was barely able to form sentences.

“But... why?”

“I’ve been asking myself the same thing, trying to remember what could've caused this. And then it clicked. It all started when I felt something during my shower yesterday evening and that was just around the time you pre-ordered the Switch from your Switch-Witch….. including new friends to play with.”

Aeris looked at Leo waiting for him to put two and two together. As expected it took way longer than it should have.

“But...I preordered...8 players….”

Aeris sighed, her condition and the unlikely cause of it finally fried her gray friends brain.

“Listen, Leo! I need to read the fine print of your order later, but I assume all products will be delivered together, so I wanted to ask you: When does it come out? The Switch! When will it be released?”

Leo focused a little again, this time he knew.

“March 3rd. In about 6 weeks.”
