Thank you so much for this helpful tutorial. I use Corel Painter instead of Sai, but I think all those software tend to be quite similar anyways. The process is what counts I think, and since I'm still just starting out with practicing coloring my art, your process is very helpful. Thank you so much for taking the time. Your work is beautiful ^///^

Question.. do you use a specfic color scheme technique? I can never figure out how to fnd the right colors to contrast and follow so i mostly just stick with say. Blue if im using a blue but will go in different shades

Not really I go by intention and play around so I do when it comes to traditional art.
try to use colors that you usuallyΒ won't combine with each other

A good way to choose shadow colors is to delve into the compliment of that color. (IE green for red, blue for orange (or in the case of the skin--blue is good and also occurs naturally in real life). Also if you want a color scheme picker a good tool is colorschemedesigner.com/

I don't have the equipment, I don't know how to draw, I'm almost giving up art. All I can do is color other's lineart. :c

Β If you want to draw, then draw. Don't give up on it. I never had a tablet either, so I just drew with a mouse. It was all fine until my laptop broke, so I just draw on paper and take pictures because I don't have a scanner. But if you really want to draw, then just practice. I know you're probably expecting more than that, I'm not a very good motivational speaker, but just practice and you'll be able to draw! Just don't ever compare your works to others because then you'll start to feel discouraged, believe me.Β
Β I used to be like you, you know. I almost gave up on art because I felt like I couldn't draw and I just didn't believe there was a purpose. But now I know that I should draw because it's what I want, not just to be good at something. It's a good way to express yourself. I'm probably just telling you things you might already know or things you don't wanna hear, but don't feel like that. If you don't know how, then watch plenty of tutorials! The way I started out was just doing fanart, like copying pictures and things like that. This can be helpful if you don't really know how to do something or just to develop your style. You can see how other people do it and then you can just build off of that. Eventually, once you have an idea you should start practicing original art, without copying off of other pictures and etc. But don't be afraid to use other people's works and other pictures as references! For my drawings, I don't have anything fancy. I just use regular printer paper and 0.7 mm mechanical pencils. I just hope this helps you in deciding not to give up, because you shouldn't.

I never thought of using the sketch as the line art.. I automatically go for smoother lines without questioning it. I always noticed how my sketches are better than the final line art.
Thanks for the tip!! Now I don't have to spend hours redrawing lines~
You palette is very broad. You have an excellent mind to be able to control and combine colors like this.
Thank you for the tutorial~ I really appreciate this. I wish I stumbled upon it earlier though.
