Power Rangers: Nitro Beat, a Brigadoon Production

Possible Super Sentai name: Fukai Sentai NitroRanger (Deep Squadron NitroRanger)

“Nitro Beat, Release the power!”

Year it takes place: 2007 (The concept is newer, but I’m trying to build up my Earth-Hampton Universe )

Theme: Beast gods and vehicles!
Nearly three thousand years ago, an order of mages agreed to forbid the use of a type of magic known as Endocopian* magic. This kind of magic used the energies of the soul to manipulate the very nature of one’s existence. The mages sealed all the known endocopian spells into a tome known as The Keeper of Endocopia. The book was then put deep into an underground pit guarded by sorts of nasty things. A key to the book was fashioned and put into another deep pit guarded by another hoard of Lovecraftian beings. The hope was that these spells would be forgotten by time and the universe would march on, but centuries after the sealing; Endocopia* might rise again.

And now for something completely different…

In a small corner of the universe, a water covered planet lived. It was called Earth by the natives, although there are more colorful names given to it by other sapient races. A spirit lived within the planet; a motherly being known as Tikkal. She gave all to protect of the creatures that lived on her planet, and would go to great lengths to protect her children. Also, living on Tikkal’s surface are a race of mechanoid animals called Guardians. These creatures are massive and live to serve the earth itself and the creatures running around on her. The guardians often serve as allies to the human defenders of Tikkal. Among the humans, Guardians, and the like; another world existed beneath Tikkal’s crust. An underworld brimming with demons, wraiths, and skeletal beasts who…like to play football and just enjoy their lives. It seems that there is much more to this little blue planet than people give her credit for.

Although there are Gaurdians frolicking on the surface of the earth; deep within a cave there sleeps gods older than them. They are known as the Primodials, bestial gods who represent the core aspects of the soul. The cave where they sleep is known as the Soul’s Abyss, only a few powerful individuals now where it is. Few would have guessed that these gods would soon rise again.

*Endocopia is the name for a spirit kingdom that managed to find the secrets of the soul, let’s just say that they didn’t end well…

VIPER, or also known as Vital Informational and Pursuit of Earthen Reservationists, is an organization dedicated to the protection of the people of the world. They insist themselves to simply be a group of scientists who look for lost knowledge, but most government bodies think of them as an organization that is on par with the fictional Marvel Comics’ SHEILD. The leader of VIPER, Candace Rivera, is no Nick Fury, but she can certainly lead a group of people. VIPER tries its best to keep the weirdness on earth to a minimum, more often than not they find themselves fighting the good fight. The organization is based in the city of Seattle, Washington. Also, there are major operations in Boston, Massachusetts; Washington D.C, Austin, and Chicago.

In the Atlantic city of Boston, a young woman by the name of Savannah Rioden lived. She was member of one of the best competitive cheerleading squads in the state; lead them to more than one state final. Unfortunately, she was a rather ignorant and acted much like the cheerleaders in popular media. The universe always seemed to want her to do something with her skills other than cheerleading, leading to such events as Savannah being halfway convinced to save a raccoon from a fur farm to a very weird man constantly asking her to help his “people”. Savannah herself believes that these events are just the natural stupidity of the “stupid” people around her.
Savannah was due for some major karmatic backlash.

One day, she awoke to find that she had, well, changed. She was more than a little shocked to find herself fully male. She tried her best to rationalize the situation and find an explanation. She hadn’t taken any experimental drugs or encountered supernatural beings, yet she was now something she didn’t want to be.

She went through her day trying to make sense of the situation when a force suddenly knocked to her feet while she was just outside her apartment building. She looked to see a fiery red energy staring straight in the face. The force then let out a vicious howl and went plowing into her changed body. Savannah, still reeling from the gender bender, then suddenly found herself in the midst of a city in chaos. Various horrors surrounded her as Savannah ducked for cover. A feeling then began to overtake her as she watched a group of strangely familiar people began to fight the abominations. She felt compelled to fight as well. She tried to fight the feeling, but some deeply buried aspect of virtue rose from the former cheerleader and the decision was made to fight!

Savannah then finds herself in the company of VIPER and their fight with the monsters. They note her natural skill with blunt objects and decided to invite her to be a subject in the Nitro Beat program. VIPER had been working on a team of heroes who would serve as a first-response to any sort monster invasion that might plague the earth at the time. She only joins as a way to reverse her “condition” and to satisfy her curiosity of the monsters she fought. Savannah soon learns that old gods are rising and their using humans as a way to combat old enemies of divinity.

VIPER had been trying to keep these gods under wraps, but it seems that universe wanted the organization to go deeper into the situation. The organization had designed suits to help control a series of giant vehicle zords that could be called upon if need be. In series of strange events these zords become infused with the spirits of the elder Primodials and empower a new team of rangers to fight a mysterious army known as the Morlocks.

Savannah, the gender bent mess of a human being, finds herself as the newbie red ranger on a team of seemingly random people.

(Please don’t mind the story! I’m still trying to put all the pieces together. I’m in the beginning stages of writing a fanfiction of this concept. I really need an editor. :/)

Savannah Rioden: Red Wolf Nitro Ranger (NitroRed)
A somewhat of an angry person, Savannah tends to see the world as a place out to get her. Her gender bent position leaves her less than thrilled with being the leader of the Nitro Beat team. She often questions her mentors as to why she was put into that position, but the most they ever say is that they see potential in her.
The abridged bio: Savannah is angry and rather confused person. She is skilled in acrobatic stunts but is horrible at taking a beating. She does soften up a lot about 1/5 through the story and controls her anger.
She pilots the Red Wolf Racer Zord.

Carrie Lockhart: Yellow Bull Nitro Ranger (NitroYellow)
A bright young mind from the Boston area, Carrie serves as the brains of the Nitro Beat team. She often goes into lectures on how to better improve battle tactics. Most people find Carrie to be a kind person and fairly capable at getting a science-related project done.
In short, Carrie is the brains of the team and serves as the analytical ranger. She is skilled in these kinds of fields but she has issues with accepting other’s opinions.
She controls the Yellow Bull Truck Zord.

Runner Briggs: Black Ocelot Nitro Ranger (NitroBlack)
Runner is someone who would rather sit around than fight the baddies. He is willing to tasks for a reward, not for some emotional satisfaction. Despite Runner’s shortcomings, he is more than willing to be a friend to others for the sake of their emotional safety. He spent the first few years of his life in a bad home situation, but was taken by the system and put into a loving foster home.
In concise form, Runner thinks like a soldier of fortune but in the end is fairly decent guy. He is skilled in hand to hand combat, but is very bad with keeping his focus.
He drives the Black Ocelot Train Zord

Matt Smitherson: Green Komodo Nitro Ranger (NitroGreen)
A true nerd, Matt was more than happy to help pilot a giant robot. He often quotes his favorite shows when in combat, this leads to more than one groan from frenemy Runner Briggs. He also insists that his teammates call him “Pidge”, the reason is often lost on others uninformed on 80s television. Matt, for all his nerdiness, makes fast friends with Savannah. They like to play endless hours of ping pong in the HQ basement.
Synopsisly, (not a real word!) Matt is a nerd who more or less serves as the comic relief for the Nitro Beat team. He is good at outwitting others, but has a tendency to crack under pressure.
He pilots the Green Komodo Flyer Zord.

Martina Echre: Purple Crab Nitro Ranger.
Martina is rather normal person who got caught up in forces much greater than her. She is a native of the area around San Francisco; her family runs a fishing shop on the piers there. Martina enjoys doing arts and crafts, specifically making plush toys. Most people consider her to be a very creative person in general.
In short, Martina is an artist with a passion for plushies. She is the heart and glue of the team. She is good with people but is a horrible cook.
She controls the Purple Crab Drill Zord.

Duke Serval: Blue Tiger Nitro Ranger
An alien from a distant galaxy, Duke’s real name is not something a human could pronounce. He came to earth after one of the Morlock gods abducted his sister. He claims to be a warrior skilled in the art of war, but he is more often than not staring at the television. A generally good Ardsisian, Duke agreed to become a nitro ranger in order to get his sister back.
He has three zords that become the Azultigre megazord, a boat-like one, a plane-like zord, and an odd combo of a tiger and a seahorse as the main mecha.
