Description Progress update on the Hawk - Designed and modeled by myself.

Modeled and rendered in Cinema4D

About the "Hawk"

It's small, it's lightweight, and it's coming to a showroom near you.

Powered by a Honda RC51 V-twin 999cc engine, with a redline of 10,000rpm, 120RWhp and a theoretical top speed of 233 kilometers per hour. Wearing three 19inch lightweight alloy wheels equiped with twin rear and front disc brakes, you wont have any problems stopping in a hurry.

Fiberglass outer shell and alloy chassis give you the aerodynamics needed to acheive the level of performance you expect from a roadbike, with the comfort of a car. The interior is a combination of moulded plastic and leather trim, with digital dials giving you the vital information about your vehicle.

So pick up your phone today, and call 555-it's not a real number.

Callers within the next five minutes will receive a complimentary set of steak knives. So what are you waiting for?

If you want to have a shot... sure! But all design rights and ownership still belong to me.

the rear tire would wear down around corners unless it were on a 'trolley' like system where it could turn to match its ideal angle during the vehical's rotation.

also, wouldn't it be more efficient to put the driving power on the front tyers?, using the rear wheel as the 'stearing wheel' would ensure it didn't wear prematurely, and you'd get more direct energy transfer from the crank to the(front) wheels.(i dunno about efficiency on this part but i think you'd need a diff, but not CV joints, seeing as the front wheels wouldn't be turning)

Awesome! I'd drive that.

Hmm...what about safety precautions? I mean if I was driving down the street at 233km/hour, how safe would I be if something unexpected happened?

i think it's falloff distance (and falloff colour, or material colour) is used for the texture raytrace engine - correct me if i'm wrong.

it means that 'highlight' is still part of the texture to show position of lightsource, but environment doesn't show on the model.

i'm talking in 3dsmax language, so no, you're not dumb - it would of course depend on your 3d language, textures, maps, raytrace etc, and whether raytrace options are presented as textures or render options

Probably not since it's a personal design and I need to retain as much copyright as I can, but I may be persuaded by $. Make an offer?

L-X In reply to zoomzoom [2006-12-18 18:27:15 +0000 UTC]

Yep, but depends how much design is involved with it, since I have a different rate for design and for 3D modeling/rendering. But my 3D rate is US$20/h at the moment (open to negotation, and dependant on the project).

Not the first car with this concept, but definately one of the prettiest. I like it, and the 3D work is excellent too (wish I could do that sort of stuff, but my first look at one of these ID programs was frustrating to say the least). Guess I will stay with my pencil

Yea, puegeot beat me to it. I had no idea about the GX3 when I was designing this, even though they most likely designed it looong before I did. Still, I think theres potential for cars with this configuration, even if it's only for sports or luxury.

kadajawi In reply to L-X [2006-11-21 00:54:12 +0000 UTC]

There was a I think German concept car, somewhat like your design, and it could lean over in curves just like a bike. [link] Not the prettiest design though. The Mercedes F-300 is similar too.

I think the main potential is in sports, since the car could be light. At the same time I think it would be pretty fuel efficient too, depending on the engine.

Ps: The more I look at it the more it reminds me of Alien

I'd be hard-pressed to say anything bad about this. Just the headlights. Don't use halogen lamps; they blind other drivers. But that shouldn't change your design any. again...

L-X In reply to Thalden [2006-10-24 21:29:10 +0000 UTC]

Yea, I've been blinded a few times by big trucks behind me with halogens because my cars lower than most. Oh well. Thanks heaps btw

L-X In reply to mattmillsart [2006-10-24 21:31:25 +0000 UTC]

Yea, I've always had a problem with modeling headlights. It seems to be almost random whether or not I get a good outcome with them, but I'm pretty happy with these.

Btw, you're one of the only 'popular' artists on DA that actually answers every comment on their deviations. Good stuff
