Description
[link]Discovery:
Thought to have developed sometime in the 50s, eyeblights were officially documented in 1982, the same year as the abandoned Creator's lab was discovered. These creatures had reportedly been found and sometimes cared for by the kitvoren guards in the area, preventing them from leaving ground zero and wandering into human populations. It's theorized they were originally plants that, after being doused by radiation from the kitvoren's escape, mutated into mobile organisms or simply fused with small wildlife. This theory is highly contested, however, as the laboratory is located in a snowy region with few resources for this type of creature to originate from. The Creators having a hand in the existence of eyeblights has not been ruled out.
Info:
Eyeblights are small plant-based creatures that live primarily near the Creator's abandoned laboratory. They are named for their most notable feature- the strange eyes that cover their plant growths, almost like an infection. Studies show that eyeblights are highly radioactive and can cause negative effects on humans as far as two miles away. The plants growing on their lower backs contain most of this radiation and grow quickly (and sometimes violently) as a result. Trimming overgrown stems and leaves is proven effective to prevent the plant from taking over completely.
While humans can't keep eyeblights as pets, kitvoren can. In fact, it's been discovered that the plants of an eyeblight are beneficial to a kitvoren's health. The leaves, petals, buds and stems have several medicinal purposes and help speed up the kitvoren's natural healing process, as well as giving them a boost in energy. While they can be applied in many ways such as cream, mixed with food, smoked, or injected, the most popular and simplest method of consuming the plants seems to be as tea. Eyeblights benefit from this as well, since it prevents their plants from overgrowing, which kills them. However, eating too man of the plants leaves a kitvoren at risk of contracting an eyeblight infection- a painful and crippling illness if not taken care of immediately.
Extra features:
Features an eyeblight can have that aren't shown in the diagram include: glowing markings, an extra set of legs, various styles of teeth or tongues, halos, extra mouths, insect wings, or a third eye on the head.
Behaviour:
Although small, eyeblights are typically very aggressive towards anything they don't recognize. They are skittish and easily startled, viewing almost everything as a predator of some kind. It's thought they have some understanding that the plant on their back is a separate entity- a parasite- and as such, has caused them to develop trust issues. They hate being approached from behind.
When calm, eyeblights will play and explore much like cats. They are nocturnal and give off visible radiation particles at night; this is thought to be a form of pollination, but has yet to be tested thoroughly.
Eyeblights become stressed if they are not able to get at least 5 hours of sunlight and sleep during the day.Β
Habitat:
Eyeblights can live in most environments, but are naturally found in and around the Creator's lab.
Diet:
Mainly insects, but occasionally small rodents or fish. But they do not need to consume outside food sources as they are fully capable of photosynthesis.
Size:
Eyeblights range anywhere between 5 and 18 inches tall.
Lifespan:
Left unattended, an eyeblight will live 5 years before its consumed by its own plant. With proper care, they live indefinitely.
Warnings:
- Approach calmly, carefully, and low to the ground. Be patient. Let it come to you. It may take weeks or even months for an eyeblight to get used to a new face, but they are severely loyal once tamed.
- Wear protective gear; an eyeblight's saliva can easily burn and melt skin on contact. Its bite injects this acidic substance directly under the skin, which melts muscle and bone from the inside and often requires hospitalization and surgery to clean the wound.
- Humans are not to approach in any way, shape or form without appropriate radiation-resistant suits. Effects of prolonged exposure to this type of radiation is currently unknown.

Eyeblight infection is a disease that makes eyes grow on a Kitvoren's body! It's not fatal or anything but it causes migraines, dizziness, hindered hand-eye coordination, and sensitivity to lights- because they don't usually have eyes and are adapted to a different type of sight, suddenly having a bunch of eyes on them gets them all confused. They can see out each one at the same time and it messes with their perception of the world ;w;
This is all mostly lore though, Kitvos can't actually have these infections on their designs normally since they're an admin-exculsive mutation atm! This is the only one that has it right now ^^
