Description The old Darkhorse Aliens comics gave us a view of Xenomorph Prime, the homeworld of the Aliens. And on it they introduced a rival species that fought with the xenomorphs and was able to hold its own. Later on the same comic line established the popular theory that the xenomorph was bio-weapon created by the Space Jockeys. With this in mind, and given how deadly the xenos were, I decided that there was likely nothing natural on that planet. It would mean that every living thing on Xenomorph Prime was engineered for a specific purpose, and that if something was able to fight kill, and possibly even eat the acidic xenos; then it too was likely another bioweapon also stored on the planet. So this redesign is my take on the mystery predators :the Bone Crawler.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Bone Crawler was another branch of the same bio-weapons research that created the xenomorphs. It essentially was a competing design. They are similar in size to the average xenomorph warrior, but a bit heavier, due to its larger musculature and heavier armor. Like the xenomorphs, they too have an acidic blood, though not as potent. While the Xenomorph has a hive social structure, the bone crawlers operate in prides, like mammalian lions. Upon ingesting enough biomass, an enzyme that is capable of rewriting organic matter at the molecular level works on it, causing the organic matter to be transformed into a fetal Bone Crawler, which is then regurgitated and quickly grows to adulthood. Because of this, this species is nearly as capable of decimating a planet as the xenomorphs. With that being said, they are not as intelligent as the xenomorphs, and they lack the hive structure to build their numbers and work with a purpose. They also lack the DNA reflex that allows the xenomorphs to take on the attributes of their host, meaning that the Bone Crawlers are limited in their evolution. Because of these issues, in the long run, the Bone Crawlers are not as much of a threat as the xenomorphs, but make no mistake; this is not a life form to take lightly.

Forgive the rough art, as it looked better on paper. I was going for a creature with a skinned look, with the texture of the muscle you see in preserved animals, with the harder parts looking almost fossilized. Yes, I know I stole the reproduction method from the shriekers from tremors, but I thought it worked well in this case.

I love this! Would you consider drawing the ape like creatures from the same comic? These guys the pale ones in the egg chamber.  images-na.ssl-images-amazon.co…
