Interesting point of view. Steam locomotives like Flying Scotsman were also colored 'by hand'. So they are very-very 'living' locomotives

While I personally think a βtalking trains universeβ should have all sentient locomotives, I like the imagery of this. My opinion of modern trains is exactly that; their lifeless pieces of metal, like a robot. To me, the way a steam locomotive sounds and feels makes them seem alive. Modern stuff doesnβt have that feeling at all; it feels cold and empty. Which is why I always say, Steam Forever!

Yes, I hear this quite often, from different train drivers, that steam locos have a 'soul', diesels - so-so, and electric trains are fully robots. My illustration is a kinda of 'deviation' from βtalking trains universeβ

I agree wholeheartedly. At least diesels have some kind of personality. The only electrics I have a soft spot for are ones built before and during the 1950s.
