Description So originally this was created for my role as Princess Isabelle at the Silver Leaf Renaissance Faire, but since that role has ended, it is now one of my Duchess gowns

In short, it is made from tablecloths I bought for dirt cheap after Christmas last year because they had a gorgeous non-holiday and very period-appropriate pattern. The fabric is a woven blend brocade. The contrast green fabric is an upholstery brocade, all hand beaded with pearls, glass beads, and olivine swarovski crystals. All jewelry was made by me, as were the underpinnings and hat.

And before someone asks "what's that hanging off your skirt???", that is Sir Fuzzbutt :b I had been asked to bring him out to MRF (only time this year, actually) because he had been missed He's a mink pelt dressed as a hero at large, hehe.

To answer the other question of "are you dancing?", yes I was, and I was dancing Nonesuch.

So.. many... beads! Oh the patience!

Awesome job. I've taken up sewing quite recently (I'm more of a crochet girl), but I'm having lots of fun. Hope to get to your level, some day!

So many times I've stood looking at table cloths or curtains that are THE perfect fabric to me...but never thought of using them...WHat's bad is I found a fabric I loved at Hobby Lobby once...but alas it was used to cover a gift box that was packed with stationary. My mom even agreed that it was perfect and joked that it would take at least 30 boxes to pull together enough fabric.

If it's cheap enough, and looks like it'll disappear in no time, I just grab it. Worst case scenario, you can always return it

I nabbed 4 packages of the widest rectangles of the cloths and only used one and a half on the whole gown, just for fyi

Hehe, have fun! That's where I sometimes find feast gear and jewelry to go with my garb

all in the nick of time too...I'm going to MiddleFaire this weekend so I should be able to post some pics of full garb together. If I decide which bodice to wear, New red, Red dotted, or Blue...I hate decisions..that's why I end up with so many bodices..can't make a decision on fabric and end up with a ton..LOL

just.. wow.. such details of the top and the skirt must be heavy.. what did you use to hold it up?

It's a lot lighter than you'd think, since it's a pretty light brocade. The thing that floofs it out though is 1) a hoop skirt, to get that cone shape from the waist to the floor, and 2) a bum roll (which is basically a crescent of padded fabric tied around the waist to support and fluff out the skirt from the waist to make the hips look wider; it's a period look)
