Description
Another new pic, whoo!!Meet my character at the Silver Leaf Renaissance Faire for the 2008 season! I play Princess Isabelle of Spain, who is engaged to Prince John (of the Robin Hood tale). Oh yeah, didn't I get the winner
I designed and made the whole gown, from underpinnings to overskirts, bodice, and the jewelry too! The only things here I didn't make are the hat (bought from The Grinning Griffin a few years ago) and the 3-strand pearl necklace.
In this pic, you can see the new pillbox hat (it's so cute
Pic (c) Patrice (a good friend of mine)

Excellent costume! I love that detail beadwork, it really adds some spice to the garb!

Absolutely beautiful - I envy you, you seem to be able to wear any colors and they look fabulous on you!

I wish I could wear something that heavy and elaborate to my local ren fair, but as I live in south Florida, I would die of heat stroke in ten minutes. XD So my costumes are always geared to be as cool and light as possible.
The beading is impressive. How long does it take you?

I've been to FL and worn my red velvet/upholstery brocade dress there (in Feb), so it's do-able :b
Hours of sitting down watching long movies, sometimes solo, sometimes with a group of friends who are also sewing

WOW...very impressive...I'd go cross eyed from all the head beading you do. I'm loving the color combination you used.
Can't wait to see the finished pics of it.

It coordinates surprisingly well with my character's fiancee's garb, which wasn't intentional See here: [link]
His garb's a lil more "eevil" and dark looking though :b
And my fingers have so many needle pricks all over...it's really annoying.

I made vest for my husband out of black suede cloth with sage trim...ended up with enough fabric that I am starting to draft a new bodice for myself. I have a tendency to always buy more fabric then I need...started when I didn't get enough once for a skirt and now have a skirt cut out minus one panel...and can't find the fabric anymore. It may end up being the underskirt one day with a front panel. time will tell....
BTW..nice garb on him..did you make that too?

Oh no, I have nothing to do with his garb

I am so completely full of questions...though...I'm trying not to flood you with them. I have to admit myself..I prefer making my own then for others. I have made a bodice in an evening, but my hubs vest took forever..and I can't start another project til I finish my daughters "tooled leather" pirate bodice. I have it cut out and the lining...but on hold til my new sewing table is completely finished.

I've rarely done garb for others, and definately agree with you that I prefer doing my own garb only. I finished all the bodice beadwork finally, now I just have to work on those sleeves :b

YAY!! DOnt mind me asking..but where do you get our trim...I've found trim shopping to be harder then fabric shopping. I never leave a fabric store with out some yardage of some fabric. But Trim on the other hand is a pain to find something decent.

LOL...Figures...it's where I got the micro suede for hub's vest. They were in the middle of a season change of stock. The store seemed bare. I'll have to be sure to check back when I make it to the big city. If you have seen my blue bodice on my page, I got all the fabric for it at walmart here. I have my eye on a rich burgundy brocade they have there.
