Description Here's all of the main characters who will be featured in the collab story between my sister and myself.  As you can see, this story is going to be a little Dickensian in how there will be almost twenty characters that we will touch on!  We have since then added a few more, but they (maybe?) won't be key players; I'll try to upload some decent art of the others later.   The story takes place in a mid-Victorian Era setting (1850s-1860s), in another world with some fantasy twists.  Anywho, description/introduction time!

Mr Wharton: I've been wavering in between him being a dirty lawyer or a loan shark--in any case, he's a bad guy!  Wharton likes to draw other people around him to make himself look good, and the people are about as shallow as he is, as they ingratiate themselves to earn his praise and just a smidgen of his attention.  He's something of a suitor of Lady Hayworth, as she nearly married him when she was younger before she found out what a mercenary villain he was.  Now that Lord Hayworth is dead, Wharton has resumed his courtship with her, much to Lady Hayworth's discomfort.

Ariadne: Ariadne and her brother, Jairus, were separated when they were fleeing from their country, which was in the throes of civil war.  She earns a job as Lady Hayworth's companion and is unaware that her brother found his way to the city nearby.  Ariadne is very hard-headed and talkative, so she keeps Lady Hayworth and Her Lady's father entertained, but she has a bad habit of eavesdropping and blurting things out, which gets her into awkward situations.

Vianne: Vianne recently moved to the city with her family when her father gained ownership of a large mill.  She is something of a tomboy, so she doesn't like that she has to behave proper in front of everyone all the time--she'd much rather be horseback riding or wandering in the wood by the family's manor in the country.  She finds it hard to make friends with the daughters of rich acquaintances of her parents since they're so uppity.  She befriends Elizabeth when they meet at a social, and fancies Elizabeth's twin brother, Ebenezer.

Roman:  Yeah, he looks nothing like this version now.   After some creative input from my sister (this guy is her character from an old story that we redesigned for this project), his new version is something of a "bad boy" character, so his new NEW look reflects that more.  He just looks goofy here. lol  Roman works for Mrs. Grier as a stable boy and falls in love with the new help, Tersrie AKA Galiene.

Grandpapa Pelagius: Pelagius is Tersrie's mother's father, and there's a good reason why he's the only guy on this page with blue hair--he, his wife, and the rest of Tersrie's mother's side of the family are water nymphs.  They can disguise themselves when they go amongst humans, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they know how to act human.  When Tersrie leaves the fold to learn more about her human side and where her father came from, Grandpapa secretly follows to keep an eye on her, getting himself into some ridiculous situations.

Hugo: Hugo is a sailor who works on a steamship on the river and is rescued by Tersrie when he's thrown overboard.  He takes an instant liking to her, mostly due to the mystery of finding a young woman in the water, and helps her acquire a job at Mrs. Grier's household as a maid so that he can visit her often when she comes to the wharf to purchase food.  The crew doesn't know much about Hugo, and they notice that he seems like a fish out of water, which makes them curious about his background which he's never bothered to reveal to anyone.

Sibyll Vallotton: A famous foreign Prima Donna, Sibyll likes to like extravagantly, and has a large entourage of followers that she's never seen without.  She is very much a diva and likes expensive things, as well as expensive men.  Sibyll is one of Wharton's closer friends, and their relationship is defined by one or the other making them jealous, and their mutual love of using other people for their gains.

Mr Davenport:  A wealthy gentleman caller of Mrs. Grier who wants nothing more than to marry her.  He is constantly rebuffed by Mrs. Grier, who doesn't have time for the portly, balding aristocrat, but doesn't let her coldness dissuade him.  He employs Linzi as a scullerymaid, and pays her not only in money, but in little gifts that are intended for her several other smaller siblings who must find work to survive as well.

Tersrie/Galiene: Half nymph, half human, Tersrie was raised by her mother's side of the family amongst nymphs.  She grows curious about her paternal half and humans in general, so after receiving permission from her grandparents, disguises herself as a human to go live and learn among them.  The picture here is her human form--her nymph form looks more like Grandpapa, with blue hair, markings, and pale skin (sans the facial hair lol).

Jairus: Separated from his sister, Jairus is hired as a personal secretary for Vianne's father.  Shy in nature, Jairus prefers to work behind the scenes, even though he does a lot of Vianne's father's bookwork and public relations, finding it more comfortable to slip into a dark corner when he's forced to attend a party.  He gets extremely nervous around Vianne because he unwittingly fell in love with her, and so he stutters whenever she tries to talk to him.  Vianne, by the way, is completely oblivious about Jairus's affections.

Mrs. Grier: A crafty woman, the widowed Mrs. Grier is the sole guardian of her sister's children, Elizabeth and Ebenezer.  She treats Ebenezer like her son (she has a 10-year-old son too), but maliciously belittles and inhibits Elizabeth.  She wants to get remarried and has a generous amount of suitors who are at her beck and call, but the only one she has eyes for is Edward.  She would much rather that her most ambitious suitor--Mr Davenport--fall off the face of the planet, than have to marry him.

Linzi: Linzi is a young girl who besides working in a textile mill, works as a scullerymaid for Mr Davenport to support her infirm father and brood of young siblings.  She's very gentle in nature and has a lot of patience when it comes to her work and other people.  If she weren't in her present situation, she would love to get an education.

Ebenezer: Elizabeth's fraternal twin brother, Ebenezer (who likes to be called "Eben"), is his
aunt's favorite and is something of a ladies man.  When Mrs. Grier hires Tersrie as a maid, Eben immediately forms an attachment for her.  He showers her with his attention and little gifts, which delights Tersrie, who has no idea how human courtships work.  Eben is also unaware of the unequal treatment of his aunt towards him and his sister.

Elizabeth: Ebenezer's fraternal twin sister, Elizabeth, as described by my sister, is a "Hermione Granger-ish character."  Along with being friends with Vianne, she is also friends with Lady Hayworth, who is kind of like a "fun aunt" to her.  She's annoyed by her brother's attachment to Tersrie, and so she tries to set him up with Vianne, while she herself likes Jairus.  There's going to be a lot of complicated relationships in the future for these fellas... lol

Lady Hayworth: Lady Roxanna Hayworth is the wealthy widow of Lord Hayworth, who died while serving in the royal navy.  She moved back in with her father--Squire Byron--at their manor in the countryside, keeping him company since she's his only child and he's been a widower for several years.  A close friend of her late husband, Mr Trowbridge, also makes several appearances at her father's manor to bring them news from the city and go on hunting trips with the Squire.  The Squire has high hopes that Trowbridge will marry his daughter, even when Trowbridge claims that he's just a friend.

Edward: Edward served in the cavalry before he was injured and returned home with a game leg and the hope of marrying Roxanna Byron.  He's upset to find that Lady Hayworth married an older, richer man, and keeps his distance from her, even though she is newly widowed.  He is welcomed back to his job on the police force, but is relegated to paperwork because his injury prevents him from going on the beat, which frustrates him immensely until he is given the job of investigating a cold case regarding the mysterious deaths of Eben and Elizabeth's parents.

Alrighty, that's it for now!  I'll have some more art of these characters up eventually, since I've got a bunch of sketches of them in my sketchbook as of now.
