To give you an example what my Tutorials on Patreon look like here is a tutorial I did for September 2015 I hope you enjoy it (and consider supporting me )
Once a month I do a tutorial about a lot of different topics like copics, watercolors and digital tutorials also, I try to keep it close to what I was working on that month but also to what is demanded
At that time I worked on that DIN A3 Copic drawing

I'd like to point something out: I don't think normal copy paper is recommended since it's not alkaline/acid free/bleedproof and too thin, the ink would bleed out the paper making a mess and in the end it wouldn't look very nice (unless if it has a higher gramature, but it's still not acid free). Watercolor paper isn't good as well because it's usually pretty absorbent and the ink inside the marker runs out faster, although it's not really a problem if you don't mind refilling markers with more frequency.

I am just honest about my paper choice, since a lot frequently ask me. That doesn't mean you have to go with it If you have better results with marker paper so be it xD but I am working about 10 years with markers now and never experienced something what you said ^^

Copic Sketch are the markers that are usually shown if you write ''Comic markers'' on Google. Copic Ciao are the same, but smaller but less expensive. They also look different, but they do the same job

Thank you so much for this tutorial! I use copics (although not the same way you use copics), and I have always wondered how you colour because your shading is so smooth. I also didn't know mechanical pencil colour eno exists or what it was, or about colouring in the lines, but this has helped me a lot.. *~* Thanks again!

Yeah copics are expensive!
I even by the sketch ones, not even the ciao ones Dx
But its worth it, they are really nice and so smooth!
In my mind, copics aren't that challenging to work with!
Its more about pressure and blending actually :3
Thanks for a nice tutorial!
Recently, actually, I just bought 22 copic sketch markers
It cost so much ;n;

Question, how do you shade darker skin tones? I don't know how to transition between the shadows and parts of the face where the light hits without it looking too awkward.

Sorry, maybe a better question would be to ask which colour pens are best for shading darker skin tones. The method is exactly the same, I now realize.

Ah copic markers, the money eaters XD
I use Graph`it - brand for now, slightly cheaper but not by much XD
Great tutorial:3 I usually go from light to dark...if I mess up the light part and it was supposed to be dark, I can just paint over it then lol.XD

I know of a set that I believe has a blender with it along with some skin tone sort of stuff ( (E00)Skin White, (E34)Orientale, and a few others that I can't remember. This set was a gift, I didn't get it myself, so I'm not sure how much it costs, but my guess would be anywhere from $80-120 max. But if you want to have quality markers, go with Copic. Don't buy just any sketch paper, make it the lightweight, acid-free, non-yellowing kind in hardcover sketchbook. Hope this helps! Happy drawing!

what does it mean to smudge a a darker color with a lighter color? Usually, with markers thats not a good idea. Not only does the lighter color's nib become dirty from smudging the darker areas, but the overall effect not very visible.

wbender2467 In reply to VonEyEzine [2016-07-07 13:10:36 +0000 UTC]
Normally I just take a bit of each, lay them down on the section I'm working on, take a bit of tissue rolled into a ball and run it over the two separate colors until I see a sort of middle ground between the two.

To get an impression what I meant you can also watch the video ^^ The nibs won't get dirty and I think the effect is very visible
