It's not my time yet. A couple more hours to go.

My ear problem is much better. I thought I would be back to work today, but I'm so tired I called and said I'd be in Friday.

>>I thought I would be back to work today...<<
That's what I meant, I had in memory you want go to work today.
What is your currently job?

LaPurr In reply to denise-g [2006-06-15 06:34:28 +0000 UTC]

I do physical work. I have to be strong and awake and have a good amount of energy. I don't tell the actual job here because I think too many people judge us by our work. I'm not my job....my job supports my life...but too many think that the job IS the life. So, my job is private.

denise-g In reply to LaPurr [2006-06-15 06:45:07 +0000 UTC]

Ok, I see and I agree.
But thank God there are enough intelligent people who do not judge other by the job
or status symbols, and which see this what behind our facade is and for which is vital
as somebody is, and not what somebody is.

LaPurr In reply to denise-g [2006-06-15 06:58:09 +0000 UTC]

I agree that there are people who understand more and my friends are mostly professional people of one type or another who know that I'm not my job. I have friends who are nurses, artists, office workers, all sorts of things. I don't believe in spending time with a group of people, I like individuals.

I was thinking about this earlier tonight, as a matter of fact. I look at my gallery and I don't see a defined style to my images. I like many different styles, just as with books and with people. I like different things on different days, for different reasons. My apartment is like that, too: I have so many things here to look at and think about and play with: lots and lots of books, decorative boxes, photographs, quilts, all sorts of things. When people come here for the first time, they start walking around and looking at everything. Sometimes I have to remind them that I'm here, too.

Holy moly this is really weird hon! Since yesterday evening I talk with a german friend
about the same topic and your words are my words only in english...huhhh...lol

I've not pronounced this but that's the same with me except the quilts...lol
As I already said, I do not believe that it was a random that we have been found here.

Most of the people I know and spend time with are very different from me. I don't know anyone who is like me and I don't think I've ever known anyone who is like me. We seem to have very much in common. Of course, one big difference is that you like morning and I love the late nights. It's interesting to meet someone who is so much like me in many ways.

For many years I feel myself as very contradictory, I mean, thus as I would exist
from nothing but to contrasts. Recently I have read a very clever book, about the
single signs of the zodiac. Ordinarily I do not like these books and I also do not give
a lot on it, but this book was really very good. In this book I have read that the fish,
as the last sign in the zodiac, unite things in themselves from all other signs.
From it explains itself that they are to be caught so hard, apparently can never
commit themselves and empathize with every person so well. No matter whether
this is right or not, since I have read this, I can accept my many contradicting sides
much better and handle better with it.

LaPurr In reply to denise-g [2006-06-17 01:11:42 +0000 UTC]

I understand being contradictory. I feel great affinity for the yin yang symbol and have incorporated it into my tattoo. I believe in contrast, in opposites, in balance. I also very much love the spiral as an ancient symbol and as a way of connecting to the endless, the infinite, the cycle of life, the maze. This sense of contrast is life itself. Nothing cannot exist without its opposite.

I wonder what this book you mention would have to say about Virgo...

denise-g In reply to LaPurr [2006-06-17 05:06:01 +0000 UTC]

Unfortunately I can't remember what she said about the Virgo although my brother is also a Virgo,
but you can find the book at amazon:
"Astrology for Lovers: The Classic Guide to Love and Relationships" by Liz Greene
The german titel is very stupid and misleading, but the english titel is not so much better.
But this book is really good.

BTW, can you explain to me please, when one uses the word "good" and when "well"?
Are there rules for it? I have the same problem with "if" and "whether", I am often confused,
when one uses which word. Thanks hon.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LaPurr In reply to denise-g [2006-06-17 06:06:10 +0000 UTC]

Wow...those are very difficult to answer. Good and well. If and whether. I can't even begin to explain and the rules are sometimes flexible. Is there a native English speaker that you know in Germany who speaks both English and German very well and who might help? btw...There was an example of when to use 'well' rather than 'good'. You would never say that someone spoke a language 'good' in that sentence. But in common usage you could tell someone that they speak good English...there is a difference. The distinctions are too complex and the explanations would take forever. You might try to find a good book on English grammar.
Sorry, but I can't help on this one.

denise-g In reply to LaPurr [2006-06-17 06:26:44 +0000 UTC]

No worries about that hon, thank so much though.
>>Is there a native English speaker that you know in Germany who speaks both English

Unfortunately no, but I'll start an english grammar class for adults in September and then
I can ask such questions.

Someone who teaches English will be able to answer better and in more depth than I can here.

Outstanding -- great color work and I like the 3D look in this

Actually, many people in my real life call me that...all the time, as a matter of fact.
My user names here and on Caedes are things that people have called me as well. I just stole them for my own nefarious (look it up) purposes...

People will also meow to get my attention. They're just too too funny.

Call me whatever the heck you want to...I respond to just about anything!

"Violet Elizabeth Bott."...? Just who in the world is that? Some ficticious Victorian-sounding name meant to conjure visions of helpless femininity. languishing on a fainting couch with smelling salts to hand, ready for another 'spell'?

Yeah, that's you alright. Poor dear. Really.

Listen! Can you hear those drops of water falling and plashing on the ground?

That's NOT water...that's my heart, bleeding for you.

WelshWench In reply to LaPurr [2006-06-14 20:37:36 +0000 UTC]

"Violet Elizabeth Bott" was William's nemesis in the "Just William" series of books by Richmal Compton. She was a thoroughly irritating child, ctachphrase was "I'll thcweam and thcweam until I'm sick" when she was trying to get her own way. I guess it's a bit of Brit "lit" that never made it across the pond

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

LaPurr In reply to WelshWench [2006-06-14 20:55:54 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, the really deep and intellectual British literature never seems to make it to us poor benighted Americans. You know that we simply don't possess the capacity for understanding the delicate nuances of great British writing.
