Just a quick question, what kind of settings do u use your brush on

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

larkin2 In reply to crazycommi89 [2007-05-31 18:43:16 +0000 UTC]

My brush settings vary depending on what look I'm trying to get. I use a hard/textured brush for blocking out main shapes, and tend to put down the opacity for softer strokes when I'm into detailing. I personally love blending colours together with a textured smudge brush on about 60% strength, but if its overused then it can make it even harder to achieve the traditional look thats quite hard to get using digital art anyway. Hope that helps

Can you for instance apply this same method for painting an entire city?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

larkin2 In reply to crazycommi89 [2007-05-14 07:06:46 +0000 UTC]

I dont see why not. I havent really tried detailing a whole city, but with enough time and patience I could give it a go.

I know some stuff about photoshop, but not very much. Great tutorial/tips.

Personally I would like maybe a speed paint video of one being made as you go (sped up of course). Would be very cool to see.

What?! I never commented on this? Ridiculous I love the bit about the texture on the ground and the multiply layer with the underpainting. I came across your painting in my favorites again and thought to myself, how the hell did he achieve such a cool effect? And then I remembered you did this tutorial. Totally going to remember that for my next piece. Awesome job.

I'm glad I could impart some artistic technique I find it that method really useful for painting reflections - just keep in mind that the higher the contrast, the more shiny it will look.

That's a very nice tutorial with good descriptions. I don't think I'd be able to do that "texture warp" though. Which Photoshop version do you need to do that?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

larkin2 In reply to Frostfeuer [2007-04-05 09:03:31 +0000 UTC]

Thanks I have Photoshop CS2, and I think the 'warp' thing is quite a new feature but its quite handy.
