I love this. I hate how a lot of people are obsessed with trying to draw perfect trees, when really the best, most realistic, and the most interesting are the trees that are bent, broken, and weathered, the imperfect ones. So with that said I was drawn to your tree, it's magnificent in its crooked bent ness, I really like it.

Yeah. I've never really drawn a live tree, so to speak. At least I've never drawn one with leaves on it.

nice tree and awsome detail.
How do you approach drawing them, do you just block out the shape and go from there or do you add the detail in as you draw it ?

Generally I'll block out the basic shape of the trunk, and then add branches and roots as they come to me. But it generally does start with a rough outline in pencil.
Once I've got things pretty much where I want them I'll go over it all in pen and change whatever I feel needs changing, or add things as I see fit... Of course this is just a guideline and techniques always change. It also seems to be different when I'm using other media (Painting... Airbrushing...)
But I pretty much always start with the trunk.
And thanks!
