Description Trying something a little different... My first photograph!

I love this photo taken in Greece (Parga, Epirus) last May 2005 when I and my husband were holidaying there. We of course just had to see the river, (River Styx, I believe it was called in ancient Greek mythology) being the history freaks that we both are. I am not that much of a photographer, so this view makes me that much more happier.

I have it for my desktop, too ^^

I had never seen such clear water before than here. If you look closely, you should see that the water reaches almost all the way to the trees on the left side...

Hehehe... I think he must have been hiding. (Supposedly, I think the guide said, somewhere upstream there is a cave entrance, a bit of an alcove or something similar... I suppose he was there?!? At the gates to the underworld )
Thank you so much for your comment, it was a lovely place worth this shot ^^

Yes, it was a really beautiful place. I think I want to visit again in the future. That would be nice, but it is so far away from me... Thanks, I'm not much of a photographer, though. I can press the button when my husband fixes all the settings right, but that's about it (We only got a monster of a camera system because he photographs somewhat more professionally)

Very nice photo. I think that beside of history, framing was choosed perfect so its only increasing mystical atmosphere f this picture. Wonderful.

LauraMaybrooke In reply to andreareno [2013-04-29 05:59:19 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much. The framing thing kind of just happened on its own. I am everything but a photographer, so I never think about such things. Seriously, this is one... one of the few photos I've ever taken "seriously".

Thank you. Sadly we didn't manage to have time for Igoumenitsa when we were there... some people went, but not us. I'd love to see that one day, too. But thank you so much. I know this comment is like... really late. But thank you and thank you for the favourite, too.

I'm a big history freak too. I'll be going to school for anthropology soon. I'm so excited. If this is indeed the river styx I never imagined it so beautiful.

Yay for being a history freak! I absolutely love old places... My husband and I always pick our holiday destinations for what we can see there. Neither of us cares for the beach and party... That was a lovely place indeed, we saw Necromandeion (Hades' temple) and some other old monuments on the same day, too. It was a good day...
You're going to study anthropology as a major? That sounds exciting!

Wow, great now another place I need to add to my list of places to go. Lets see theres Egypt, India, Ireland, Germany, Mexico, Argentina, Italy, and now Greece. I hope I live a very long life lol. Oh I wouldn't mind going back to England either lol.

LauraMaybrooke In reply to FrozenDruidess [2006-03-18 07:41:08 +0000 UTC]

On my list--- definately Egypt and Ireland. England is always on my list... I have to see if I can find my old photos and seek the Stonehenge ones... I was not very good with camera back then (years ago) but seeing I took a million photos of it, maybe there's even one that could be shown, a little touched with the computer, if need be...

And Greece is my favourite holiday destination. It has so much to offer, in different places.
And ince in our lifetimes, my husband and I want to see the old Indian relics along South America... There's so many places to go to, indeed! It's nice living in Europe in the sense that we're pretty close to many of the ancient cultures... Greek, Roman, Celtic, Anglo-Saxon... yeah...

This looks really good I love the bit of mystery that's captured, especially with the silhouettes of the branches. It even looks like there's a huge cat in the lower left hand corner
The colors look really great, so does the focus. It's 'feels' like there's just been a summerrain or something Good feeling captured.

Not bad at all

Thank you very much for such an insightful comment! The left hand corner creature... That's funny, I never noticed it before a friend mentioned it here and now I can't stop looking at it as it's on my desktop, haha... Oh, and actually, there was a summer rain just... We got a bit wet! But it was a great place...
