Description
Kaledon is my first painting using Painter on my new superfast computer. I hadn't gotten into painter before because it was a pain on my slow computer, but I had a great time doing this piece. This is also the first piece of artwork I've done in a long time (3 months or so). Went through kind of a burnout state after finally deciding not to pursue art as a career any longer. Now I just do it for fun. It was a tough decision, but I couldn't live in poverty any longer.
Anyway, this was a fun piece.

Yeah, that's fine. It amuses me as well, and who knows, maybe people are reading these and realizing how boring their lives are in comparison. Besides, it's nice to see all the new comments on my page when I visit my gallery.

I tried Painter on my slower computer and I think I tried to do too much. I saw all the brushes, and all the different media, and I tried to squish as many into my work as possible.
On this one, I only used the Oil brushes, and then only 4 different types, a heavy oil brush for some of the background (cool textures), the basic bristle brush for the majority of the painting, a detail oil brush for...the details, and a feathering brush to blend away some of the harsher places where values didn't quite blend right.
Made it a lot easier to grasp the program when I wasn't jumping madly from medium to medium.
As for doing art for fun, my dilemma is that I need to have a plan, or focus, for my work. I want the piece to be a story element, or part of a larger body of work. Like a painted story book, or collections of work that I could put words to, like Dinotopia or Robota. But when I have a goal, I spend all my free time obsessed with working on it, to the exclusion of everything else, and when I don't have a goal, I spend all my time staring at my computer screen. Aaaaargh!
Jen, have you ever looked into Quantum Physics? Have you seen the movie "What the Bleep do we Know?" or Dr. Wayne Dyer? The more I hear about it, the more I think about all those times you "willed" your cars to work when they should have died long before, or "willed" that rope to break as I was swinging over those sharp rocks under that bridge (luckily I willed myself not to get hurt!). You should really look into it, and watch that movie. i think a lot of things would click in your mind if you did. And it might help to explain some of the weird events of your life...

Did you ever rent that movie? And I don't want to talk about the whole bird incident. It's...personal...

It's really embarrassing having to go to the hospital and explain certain situations... I've said too much already.
