Well I am sorry if I placed this in the wrong category but my main point is to make you all clear of several things.My question to you is this: Is my style the SAME (not similar or kinda) as what we called "spirit style?"
I don't think so. So people can start pointing fingers at my gallery and my characters and my way of drawing. It's very rude and disrespectful when ignorant-close minded people won't even take a minute to figure out what they want to say first, examine the case and then judge. Not only am I targeting this for my own gallery, but for each and one of you, Equine artists, who do have a unique style. I found many of them that have nothing to do with the Spirit style and yet we find people coming to your gallery and say, "You Spirit stealer! You thief! You're going to be reported with Dreamworks!"
First of all Dreamworks can care less for they KNOW they'll have millions of fans, their work is copyrighted so there is no big deal if a 10 year old is using the same style. After all, those beginners use the same style for a few time while they try to learn how to draw and THEN develop their own style.That's how I did it. I drew in Spirit style for a couple or 3 years. Then I started developing my own style.
Now, back to where I started. Does Lib look just like Rain?
Answer that question yourself.
WATCHERS & FRIENDS: Don't take it personal, this is mostly targeted at those people in Youtube. You have no idea how many idiots live there. And if you've been bugged by the same thing, hell, proof to those people that you're also able to develop your own style. ... unless of course...you're one of those people copying/stealing from other Equine artist's style; they don't deserve this. They've worked too damn hard on their artwork so that a fool comes to rip off their gallery.
If there is a thing I hardly can forgive--is not that people steal my art, or copy my characters about 90%--but steal my style. It is NOT fair.
There is a difference between been inspired, and "lemme copy ur art cuz i like it."

i mean...there is so many people who draw in the 'manga/anime' style....i dunno that much about anime/manga, but, hey, they draw in the same style too, they just developing their own style in it, like a mix!

it is based slightly on Spirit, but only the eyebrows and ears. Hon, THIS IS NOT SPIRIT STYLE!!! only some kid 10 years old would take one look at it and say, "OMG YOU STOLE THE SPIRIT STYLE!!!!" your style is nothing like the spirit style.

I agee with the ears and the nostrils also, but not the eyebrows. Just because we want to add eyebrows to animals doesn't mean it's Spirit-style. Besides, a lot of my mare's eyebrows differ in variations and I get them from Anime.

Your newer style looks nothing like spirit, other than the ears and the eyebrows. However, a lot the older pics in your gallery do look near identical to spirit

From what I seen in your gallery anything past July 25, 2007 looks like its been heavily referenced from spirit. But it seems like a lot equine artist start out in spirit style but later develop their own unique style, you seem to be an example of that type of equine artist. I hope I don't offend anyone by saying this, if it makes anyone feel better I started out that way too, granted not on DA, but I didn't really draw horses until I saw spirit (I owned and rode horses but I always found them very difficult to draw)

I agree with the ears, but the eyebrows. Not because we draw animals eyebrows means is automatically "Spirit-style." Think of the horses at Horseland (t.v.) or the horse in Disney's Mulan and/or Belle and the Beast.

Your style has something in-common,but it is nowhere spirit style,I developed my style long ago,and it is like changing after every 3 pieces,and I started like from side-spirit-style,it sucked,soon I found another way,in a book,and later I few something people liked and after,I drew like this,at some point.

It may have been inspired at one point by dreamworks' spirit style... but you have totally made it your own

The absolute only thing alike is the ears and nostrils, and there ain't many ways to draw them! Anyone who thinks that drawing a horse with bloody eyebrows is bloody stupid, and obviously stupid. No proper equine artist should have to put up with that kind of shit.

I definatley agree - we spirit style artists over time have really branched from teh spirit style. I personally think its a beautiful thing to see; all the wonderful styles. Personally I think it would make the people who made spirit very proud.
People that scream and accuse you are just 10 or so year old girls being brownnoses for dreamworks. I wouldnt worry about them xD

I see a bit of an influence but that's it. You don't draw Spirit style when will people realize that not every cartoon horse is 'Spirit' and that every cartoon dog/wolf is 'Balto'!

If anyone was dumb enough to use the 'OMG, Balto style' thing on me they'd get kicked, due to the fact I've never even watched the film so I couldn't have copied the style anyway. But it's such a pain when as soon as they see ANY cartoon animal that's been drawn in a film or tv series it's automatically 'omg -insert style here-'

darl seriously take no notice of people who do that, it's just selfish and rude because they know they can't draw that well or they think they are better than everyone else. It's utterly rude and despicable that they even think they have a right to criticize other peoples gorgeous work!

i sketch spirit pictures, nd they look exactly the same, but this is only so i can learn and then i'll start working on my own style.

well i can tell you right now that your drawing slook nothing like spirit and if they are going to critisize anyone it should be me because i sketch movie stills form the spirit movie so yeah, but i odn't claim it as my own so i don't honestly can't understand whats wrong with it... i mean i only do good work if i'm sketching another picture otherwise, i can't draw for crap.

Look, I don't think there is anything wrong using references from the movie...it can be something temporarily just like I did and just like many equine artists have done
So don't feel bad. Just begin to practice, practice, and practice and don't give up. Getting a unique style is not easy, I didn't found mine in 2 days. It took me years.

I see some similarities however, your style is VERY different.
In coloring, hair flow, body curvature, ect.

i see an influence but i really don't see any resemblances. i use ref sometimes and like you i started out with drawing spirit style and moved on. don't you just hate people when all they do is accuse you of something that you ar not doing.
