Son of Gaia and Uranus.In Greek mythology, Aristaeus ('most excellent') is one of the Giants, born of the blood of Uranus. He participated in the battle against the Olympian gods, and had the distinction of being the sole survivor of that war. He is depicted in the Gigantomachy fighting Hephaestus, the god of the forge. It is said that he was the only giant to survive the Gigantomachy and its aftermath, as fire from sky did not reach him, nor did Etna harm him as he fled back to Sicily. He was transformed into a scarab, a large insect called 'Etnaean' due to its large size
