Son of Gaia and Tartarus.
Giant of the Abyss.
Born to oppose Poseidon, Polybotes was one of the Giants who fought against Poseidon in the war against the gods. He was chased across the sea and crushed under the rock of Nisyros near the island of Kos.
Polybotes is described as a giant at least thirty feet tall, with reptilian legs resembling a Komodo dragon. From the waist up, he has a blue-green breastplate shaped like monster faces. He has a human face with wild green hair that has basilisks hanging from it.
Not much is known about the full extent of Polybotes' powers. However, as the opposite of Poseidon, Polybotes is one of the three most powerful giants (along with his brothers Porphyry and Alcyoneus).
Limited to beings with power over the sea, it may have the ability to drain the power of gods, demigods, or other sea creatures.
As the opposite of Poseidon, he has the ability to turn water into green poison just by touching it. Because of that, if anyone close to the Sea got close to him, they would start to get sick. Polybotes possessed the ability to create snakes and basilisks by shaking his head. As a Giant, Polybotes can only be killed by a god and a demigod working together, as when he is injured by anyone else, he heals at an accelerated rate. Thus, the first time, he was overthrown by the combined efforts of Heracles and Poseidon.
