Description Son of Chronus and Ananke.
In Greek mythology, it is a deity born from the cosmic egg that divided Chronus and Ananque, it is the primordial deity of Creation.
Phanes was the ruler of the gods and gave the scepter of his reign to Nyx, who in turn gave it to Uranus. The scepter was forcibly taken by Uranus' son Kronos, who lost it to Zeus, the final ruler of the universe. It is said that Zeus devoured Phanes in order to seize his primordial power over all creation and share it with a new divine generation: the Olympians.
Phanes is often equated with Eros, and has been portrayed as a deity emerging from a cosmic egg, entwined with a serpent. He had broad, golden wings.
Chronus (Time) created the silver egg of the universe, from which the primordial deity Phanes sprang. Phanes was a male god, although others consider him to be androgynous. Fanes was a deity of light and goodness, whose name meant "to bring light" or "to shine", he gave birth to the universe.
Phanes was hatched from an egg created by Time and Necessity, Nyx nursed him and placed him in the limitless lap of Erebus.
