Description
well, heres two of my mini swords. they are 100 percent real swords... Just mini. they have full tangs steel blades bamboo scabbards with brass caps. the top one is my favorite. if you look closely there is a dragon running Down the scabbard and a dragon head cap at the end of the sword. but the best part about it is the sword is perfectly balanced. my next project as minnies goes, is a mini GUN! Im trying to make the smallest working flint lock pistol. right now it is equipped with a working trigger and ramrod. it is about an inch and a half. Here is a better image of the black sword called miyakawa: [link]

yeeea, I don't sell them because they just are too time consuming and hard to make which means the price is very high for something so small. Even 150 is pretty low for a REAL sword like this one here. most of them should range from $200-600.
I like to think of them like pieces of jewelry. Instead of using rare metals, the material value is determined by how close they were constructed to the traditional methods of making Japanese swords.
But it just seems people want to have a "trinket" rather than a well crafted piece of art these days. So selling these swords is practically possible unfortunately.

These are astounding! I'd love to commission something like this for my boyfriend, if the price was right. Would you be willing to work something out?

IF the price is right that is. I usually dont make these for profit since the time and effort put into them is never covered by the price people usually ask for. Since they are real swords and take just as much time to make, they would go for a price range of 150-$500 depending on the quality and craftsmanship of the blade. They are display pieces so I usually make wall frame glass display cases for them too.

These are absolutely amazing!! I love the craftsmanship it takes to make anything in small scale! I have an obsession with tiny objects, the smaller the better and these are the shit!!

I know right!!! o_O I don't know what it is but there is just something about small replicas of real life things that actually are made and work the same way as their real life comparisons. I have made miniature swords, boats, armor candles eating utensils barrels torches, buildings and even a flintlock gun. And they all follow the same scale too 1-1. Maybe I'm just crazy but to me they aren't little doll house items.
thank you so much!

I have to be careful when I go to hobby stores that have supplies for doll houses. They have everything!! But I am picky and they have to be pretty realistic for me to actually buy it. I had to tell my mom to stop buying me stuff cuz every time I turned around she was buying me little tea sets since those are easy to find and now I'm outta room!

I like making small towns and buildings to fit around my miniatures. but they are less doll houses then they are pieces of art. because I make them exactly how they would have been made in real life with the same materials. it's such a more humbling experience.

Yes, it makes a huge difference if they look like someone shrunk a real object or if it just looks like a toy. One makes me feel like a giant holding a tiny object and the other makes it seem like I'm just holding a cheap piece of junk. When I was little, I really liked the movie, "The Incredible Shrinking Woman" with Lily Tomlin. And the book, Small World by Tabitha King is also interesting because they use a shrinking machine to steal things and eventually, a person. A little corny but I liked it.

Well, there are a lot of little flaws the kanji is off and the characters are not precise. the ribbon around the scabbard is falling apart and the handle is too thick. there are still a lot of things I can do to fix it. thanks for the compliments though!

thanx been a while since someone took interest in my swords I have never really sold them since they take so long to manufacture and the price range would be pretty expencive for such a small thing. but they are REAL sword made small. they are folded blades that were made in a foarge with full tangs and correct ballance. you can ballance them on needles.
since they are smmaller the size of the proccess is shortened but can take just as long to do because it requireds percision at such a small scale. depending ont he blade I would say $100-500. Each comes with a felt lined wooden box or wall display case stand and a working sheith. My latest authentic miniature progect is a working flintlock pistol that is an inch and a half long. It's been a while since I've made a mini anythng though since they take so much work.

Those are so cool! And tiny. I have a mini sword similar to those but not with as much detail and it's probably twice as big. The red one is very cool indeed!

Thanx! ^_^ plus the sword you have probably wasn't made in the same fashion as a real weapon. these are forged and folded in the same manner as a real katana. I want to sell them but people don't know that they are REAL swords so people wouldn't buy it for the price they are worth. if you were to buy one of these what do you think would be a fair price?

NanasFreak In reply to ledious [2010-01-07 06:00:02 +0000 UTC]
Definitely not, mine was made to cut open letters, lol. If I had infinite moneys, probably $150 each, lol. Since they're real and made like a real katana, lol.
