The cover of my Inside Out comic. This has been finished for a few days but I wanted to hold out until I had the first page finished and at last I do.Name: Fear Before The Fall. Inspired by the Riff Master General metal song. youtu.be/EiMuqh_WDUw
Genre: Action, adventure, sci-fi
Rating: R for violence, language and blood
Abbreviation: FBTF
Plot: This story takes place in the mind of a host named Charlie. He's dominated by the emotion Anger. Anger is out of control and takes it out on Fear. This story parallel's Riley's mind in many ways. Charlie has similar fears and islands as Riley. But the focus of the story is not Charlie but Fear. Fear is the main character and this is a story about him at last gaining confidence, and finding out what it truly means to be Fear. Fear's Personality type is INTP. This makes him the only rational emotion of the group which also gives him the role of being Logic. He's a nice guy but even the nicest of people have their breaking point and can only take so much. It's his journey of discovery and what it means to become Scary Fear.
I'll probably edit this page later on in the future since I have learned some better painting techniques will working on the landscapes of the first page. So this will eventually be improved even further. But I'm quite happy with it and proud of it. I'm extremely pleased with the font. It's a metal font and yes this story is heavily inspired by power metal so that theme and those elements will be there through my works especially as Fear learns his powers and abilities.
EDIT: Sept 26, 2015 Major change to this cover. I was not happy with the flat background and the lack of lights on this. So I have added mountains and a city. NOW I love how this cover looks. It's way better. But there will be one more update eventually. I hope to draw at least two of the unique islands of Charlie's brain.

EDIT: Nov 24, 2015 I re-drew Fear. When I made this cover I didn't have his design finalized. This is a vast improvement.

Historia: Pasa en la mente de un muchaco llamado Charlie. Su emocion dominante es Furia. Furia se enoja much y saca vengance contra Miedo. Esta mente es similar a la de Riley porque tiene los mismos mideos y islas. Pero el personaje principal es Miedo. Tiene que ver con como el gana su confiance y que en realidad significa ser el Miedo. Su personalida es INTP. Por esta razon es la unica emocion que es racional. Y por esto tambien tiene el role de ser logica. Es una buena persona pero hasta los mas inofensivos tienen su limite y por fin quiebra.
El font que use es undo de heavy metal. Me gusta como parecu arte de un album de power metal. Es una gran inspiracion para esta historia.
EDIT: Sept 26, 2015 Un gran cambio al fondo. Nunca me gusto como estaba tan plano. Asi que le di montañas, luces y una ciudad. Ahora me encanta. Esta mejor. Hare un cambio en el futuro. Espero diseñar por lo menos dos islas de la mente de Charlie. .

This looks absolutely amazing! It really gives the reader a sense of the epicness that's in store. Fear looks so maniacal here and I just love it. I hear people use "metal" as an expression for "badass", and this cover is totally metal. 
I would love Pixar to hire you to do this as a sequel for Inside Out. This whole story about Fear is an awesome concept, and you in charge of something like that sounds awesome.

Thank you. Yes indeed. He's definitely enjoying how powerful he's become. I'm glad that's becoming a term actually. Most metal albums have very badass art. Thanks. Those shelves were hard to get right but I think I finally found a way to make them.
That would be great. I think I have the skill but my stories are too scary and disturbing for little kids. My target audience is one more mature and intelligent anyway.

Okay, I have to say that you're making Inside Out 10 times, or maybe 100 times more badass in this comic. I love how you add action into one of the genres. Well it's also what I've done to my favorite movies. Most of them are family-friendly yet you and I have our own ways to make them more mature and fits our action-packed imagination.

Ooh, now this is looking interesting. I'm a bit sadistic with some characters you see, and I like seeing them suffer. I'm curious to see just how much it will take for Fear to snap. It is also nice to see a story where the the victim takes revenge on the bully for once. I've seen enough stories where the bully realizes what they did wrong and the victim forgives them and all that fluffy stuff. I just want the victim to take control and make them suffer back for once >:3

Thank you. I'm very sadistic so I enjoy making my favorite characters suffer. The more I love them the worse off they are. Well that's kind of what this is about. Kind of like the relationship with Cope and Owen where Cope was too nice until super horrible things were done to him. Yes I've seen that kind of story. Good the bully finally made themselves a better person but it's rather unrealistic and over done.

So, Charlie's mind then. I guess common enough to have him as a general character with nothing interesting to it, but still not so common that you could make a joke about it. Basically in the perfect field to ignore him as a character and fully focus on the Inside.
I agree with Gamma, that font is pretty nice. Very draconic actually and that is pretty fitting for the theme of fright... especially inducing it. And with Fear being shown as a giant, transparent head during an evil laugh with his evil teeth and eyes does certainly give me this vibe of a very confident villain. And now I even see it much better how the entire place is shaped like a brain... I did know it before, but here it is much more visible.
So, this is going to be R-rated. I do guess that it makes more sense actually to have bad language in this, as honestly every Elementary Student already knows enough vulgar insults to fill a Reality TV-show with them. And with Anger in charge there will be plenty of it. As well as violence. Blood of course is a defining thing... I mean, the worst we ever see on screen are scratches maybe, while off screen we got stuff that is pretty. Pretty brutal. At least in other Pixar movies like the Incredibles, where we all learned that Capes are really a bad idea.

Yeah, his mind is more interesting than is life. For now he is just a location though all this will of course affect him. The main focus is on Fear developing as a character so the host is not important.
I love that font. So glad I found it. Just works very well with this. I love that he's got every power at his disposal now. It's amazing he can do what anyone fears. I'm sure he asks himself when he meets a victim "I wonder what my powers will be today?"
It's funny because I do hope to have those elements in there somehow. I should make Anger cuss up a storm since in the movie he wanted to say bad words but wasn't allowed to. It would be funny. But you know my favorite things and what my stories mainly are about are fights. So I do want violence and blood at some point. I was actually shocked in a good way that they had the dog chopped in half in the movie. That whole dream scene was my favorite part and it led up to freeing the clown. But yes that was probably the darkest part of the film. Dark humor. Of course my version would have been worse with guts and blood pouring out both end.

I loved that what was probably the grossest and most disturbing part of the movie Fear reacts with confusion and annoyance. Hehe, so he has the potential to be cool and calm that way.

I could really see the use of that. Watch lottery numbers,
reverse time to last week, play the lottery, become filthy
rich, repeat if needed. And of course the stop button.
Freezing time and manipulating the space during that is
something I always found to be funny.

It's pretty much god-like power on a button press. Something
with so many great ways to abuse for one's own benefit and
maybe occassionaly the benefit of others. Or more likely to
make idiots suffer.
Ah, yes that was a great example of that. It's a very subtle
thing that is simple, but very effective because it plays with
the possibilities.

As for the story premise itself, I think it's neat. So the host is now officially called Charlie. Well with all the adventures we'll have with Fear he's in for a wild ride. So... unlike Riley he's dominated by Anger, interesting. I like the rating for the comic... blood, I'm so looking forward to blood!

Thanks. I'm glad you like it. Other than Chris you're the only other person that got to see some of the progress. Yes finding that brush was so helpful. I can now draw some nice distant mindscapes with it. The rocks were a bit tedious but worth it. I like the sky too. That was fun to make. I had a ref of the headquarters tower so that helped a lot on how to make it look glowy. Oh yes very intentional that he looks creepy and decrepit. It's a shame people haven't commented on this as much as the first page. Maybe it's too scary but yes he is Fear so that's the intention for sure. I love those teeth. I'll make him smile every chance I get.
I had a feeling you'd love that font. So power metal. I looked up Black metal font but just looks more power metal to me.
I'm glad you like that and I have more freedom now with this being someone else than it being Riley. I'm hoping I can get away without ever showing him either. Everything is in first person perspective so I just need to avoid mirrors. Besides it's not really about him though well you know what Fear will do to him and it's not what people are thinking.

Was not my intention but have found that sometimes a hard truth is funny. No whinning so far which is good. They're probably getting used to seeing how I draw him. But I do love the shock already from what has happened. Comments aren't that great unfortunately. Lots of one or two word comments that tell me nothing for all the work put into these.

Oh yes. You know how much of an inspiration metal is for this. Two great songs are fueling me through this work. I was so worried I wouldn't be able to make those walls but now I know how to do it. I'm glad my idea worked. I already want to improve this. Seems my covers always need to be remade.
I think he'll be better for it. Just see how I turned out.
