Description
I feel like this is starting to become a series now. Anyway...
This is another match-up for the Crossover Game, the massive hypothetical crossover of my video game collection.
The full roster for licensed characters (excluding DLC/additional characters/NFC Fighters) can be found here: leehatake93.deviantart.com/art…
This time around, the math-up includes both DLC and original characters (OC's). Those characters shown in this image are currently the entirety of this category, however, as the roster expands every time I either get a new game or add a new one to my wishlist, this category is due to expand yet again. Additionally, I originally had more OC's planned to be included, though I don't have colored artwork for all of them, so they won't appear in the roster yet. The information on the "DLC" fighters and OC's will be posted below.
For information on the design of the roster image, see here: leehatake93.deviantart.com/art…
The four characters chosen for this match-up are The Boss from Saints Row, Jak and Daxter from the series of the same name, Rhys and Fiona from Tales from the Borderlands, and Lee Hatake from the Naruto fanfiction version of my own series, Brawl Legends.
All characters are wearing their default costumes for their selected Forms/Variations.
Here are the descriptions for each character:
1. The Boss (Laura): The main protagonist of the Saints Row series, and the character you create yourself.
-Form: The Boss' Form is called "Super Saint" and represents them as the superpowered President of the United States from Saints Row IV.
-Variation: The Variation of the Boss is Laura, my original female design for the character. Her name is Laura because I use Female Voice 1 in Saints Row: The Third and Saints Row IV, and that voice is provided by Laura Bailey. The character's design also fits Laura Bailey's voice well.
-Team: Laura is teamed up with my character from Freedom Wars. In-game, the character is only referred to as "Sinner", though I've name him "Exel Takashi", after a superpowered character from my Hero's Retribution series. The name "Exel Takashi" is also derived from "Exel Takaxhe", a Kingdom Hearts-esque anagram of Lee Hatake's name. Their team name is "Saint and Sinner" both for the fact that The Boss reigns from the series "Saints Row", and the characters in Freedom Wars are called "Sinners", as well as Saints Row: The Third using the tagline "You have to be sinner to be a Saint".
-Super Smash: Laura's Super Smash is the "Loud Locust". This is one of my favorite guns in Saints Row IV and it is a parody of the Noisy Cricket weapon from Men in Black. The gun is a tiny pistol that fires a large laser blast that clears away any obstacles or enemies in its path. Likewise, the firing power from the gun causes the user to be blasted back a few feet. This move will instantly launch any oppnents caught in the explosion, and even serves as a hazard for the Boss, as it may also throw them off the stage, and can cause a Self-KO if they don't recover quickly enough or have high damage.
-Final Smash: Laura's Final Smash is another one of her primary weapons in Saints Row IV, the "Abduct-O-Matic" gun. This gun fires a skyward tractor beam that instantly pulls anything caught in its light toward the sky, "abducting" them and causing an instant KO. As with the Loud Locust, the Boss can also be caught in this beam if they aren't careful enough, and unlike in Saints Row IV, this could lead them to KO themself.
2. Jak and Daxter: The dynamic duo from the franchise of the same name, as they appear in their third adventure.
-Form: The Form chosen is Mature Jak, which includes his appearances from Jak II onward.
-Variation: Jak and Daxter's Variation is called "Wastelander", and is based on their appearance in Jak 3.
-Team: Jak and Daxter are teamed up with Banjo and Kazooie, who are still labeled as Nintendo characters despite Rare being owned by Microsoft. Their team name is simply "Platforming Icons" as they are both icons from platforming games. I considered using Crash Bandicoot due to his popularity on the PSOne, one of the rivals of the Nintendo 64 and Banjo's debut console, and Ratchet & Clank due to their closer similarities with Banjo and Kazooie (Collecting things, neither character being human, etc.), but eventually decided on Jak and Daxter since their debut games both featured vibrant environments and I'm more familiar with Jak.
-Super Smash: Jak's Super Smash is his "Light Jak" form. Though PlayStation All-Stars assigned Light Jak as his Level 3 Super, I set it as his Super Smash due to Light Jak's focus on defense and healing, in stark contrast to Dark Jak's destructive capabilities. In this form, Jak can glide around the stage, deflect projectiles, slow down time (within a bubble, similar to Itachi's Tsukuyomi in the PS2 Naruto games), and fire White Eco blasts from his hands, which inflict high knockback damage.
-Final Smash: Jak's Final Smash is his "Dark Jak" form. As stated before, I switched Dark Jak and Light Jak's roles from PS All-Stars due to Dark Jak's destructive abilities. In this form, Jak can fire Dark Eco blasts, perform the Dark Bomb and Dark Strike, and even summon a Dark Maker Bot. All of his attacks KO opponents.
3. Rhys & Fiona: The two playable protagonists from Telltale Games' Tales from the Borderlands.
SPOILER ALERT: This section of the description includes SPOILERS for Tales from the Borderlands. If you haven't completed the game, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.
-Character: As a Dual Character, players can choose to either play as Rhys or Fiona, though both characters can trade places during battle. In this case, Rhys is the chosen character.
-Variation: Rhys and Fiona's Variation is called "Con-Artist and Salary Man". This is a minor change made since their original Biography page was released, which makes them playable together, like Boruto and Sarada or Goten and Trunks. As such, this variation is based on the characters during the time period in the final episode, after Rhys and Jack are separated. Rhy's friend, Vaughn, and Fiona's sister, Sasha, are no longer variations, but instead appear as alternate costumes and in their Finishing Moves.
-Team: Rhys and Fiona are teamed up with Master Chief from Halo, since both the main Borderlands series and Halo are first-person shooters set in sci-fi universes. Their team name is called "Tales from the Reach", as a nod to both "Tales from the Borderlands" and "Halo: Reach". Despite the fact that Master Chief is not playable in Halo Reach, the Halo: Reach multiplayer is included in the Halo: Combat Evolved remake for the Xbox 360, and features DLC for Halo: Reach.
-Super Smash: Rhys' Super Smash is "Moonshot", which is based on the battle against The Traveler in the final episode. A cutscene plays which directs control to the remains of Helios, and allows players to aim a ridicule at opponents. This is a one-shot move that fires a Moonshot from the control room, and deals high damage that may KO opponents that have taken enough damage, similar to the danger areas in some Super Smash Bros for Wii U stages.
-Final Smash: Rhy's Final Smash is "Gortys' Final Form", based on the final episode of Tales from the Borderlands. A cutscene plays where the giant-sized Gortys robot picks up Rhys as he, Loader Bot, Athena, Zer0, and Cassius command Gortys. Gortys has access to Rhys' "Finger Guns", Athena's Shield, Zer0's intangibility, and Cassius' Energy Blast. Gortys can also attack with her Beacon and throw debris like Loader Bot.
-END OF SPOILERS-
4. Lee Hatake: Lee Hatake, the main protagonist of Brawl Legends and my Naruto series.
-Form: Lee's Form is called "The Eighth Hokage" and represents the Naruto universe Lee as an adult.
-Variation: Lee's Variation is called "Wandering Lee". This is a new form created for his role in The Crossover Game, and represents the character after the events of "Brawl Legends: Ultimate Ninja Evolution", the crossover with the canon Naruto universe. In this scenario, Lee takes on a mission similar to Sasuke and travels the Ninja World in order to gain knowledge and power. In his stead, he has left the protection of Konoha to Minato Uzumaki and the rest of the veteran members of Team Hatake, and has temporarily given the title of Eighth Hokage to Konohamaru Sarutobi.
-Team: Lee is teamed up with his Saiyan counterpart Leek from Dragon Ball Xenoverse and Ultimate Tenkaichi. Their team name is "Prodigal Warriors", due to their shared brash nature and former overconfident attitude, but later mature into capable warriors and the chosen protectors of their respective worlds. They also share the "Soul of the Chosen One", a multidimensional trait that is shared between many diverse characters around the multiverse (an in-universe explanation of their status as extensions of the same character that I originally created).
-Super Smash: Lee's Super Smash is his Sage Mode Susano'o Chakra Armor, which changes his moveset. Like Jak, he can glide around the stage with the wings of his Susano'o Armor. His melee attacks are performed with Susano'o's sword, and he gains access to his Infernal Rasen-Magatama in this form. He will also use his Fire Style: Deforestation Jutsu which, once activated, will immediately end his transformation and engulf a large area of the arena in flames.
-Final Smash: Lee's Final Smash is a new technique I've created that debuts in The Crossover Game called "Sensugan Isetsukami". The technique translates to "Divine Ocular Transference" and it is Lee's unique Mangekyo Sharingan ability. In this form, Lee's eyes and hair turn white as he gains the ability to use Jutsu performed by other Shinobi, as well as other characters in The Crossover Game. For balancing purposes, Lee gains the Jutsu: "Onyx Rasenchi Blades", "Frost Style: Jagged Wolf Hunting", and "Inferno Style: Blue Flares". He also gains a fourth Jutsu, "Hatake Style: Blazing Sandstorm Burial", which immediately end his Final Smash and summons a large, fiery sand tornado that travels across the stage, trapping anyone caught in its path. Once trapped, large glass shards appear in the air, encased in sand clouds, and home in on the opponents, similar to Gaara's Sand Burial. Lee's appearance will remain changed for the duration of the match.
Jutsu Descriptions:
-Sensugan Isetsukami: This power is technically the Sharingan equivalent of Super Saiyan God in that its power comes from the powers of others. It is a highly evolved version of the Sharingan's natural copy ability, and allows Lee to instantly copy the abilities of other Shinobi, even if those abilities are Kekkei Genkai. However, unlike the traditional Sharingan Copy ability, Lee does not retain the ability to use the techniques he copies, therefore his chakra must be in contact with the original user. In addition, similar to Naruto's ability to share Kurama's chakra among multiple recipients, Lee can transfer his own techniques to others using this ability. Once used, Lee's hair becomes permanently white. Additionally, his Susano'o becomes white and his Amaterasu glows blue and silver. His chakra also becomes silver after the first usage of this ability. Lee and his great-grandfather are the only known Uchiha in history to obtain this ability, and it is unknown to the Otsutsuki Clan.
-Onyx Rasenchi Blades: This technique is derived from Lee's Infernal Rasen-Magatama. With abilities copied from Sasuke, Lee engulfs a Chidori in Amaterasu's flames, then spins the chakra into a Rasengan. He then creates chakra blades from his Susano'o Armor's Yasaka Magatama, that orbit the Rasenchi like satellites. The move explodes into an electrified, onyx-colored whirlwind.
-Frost Style: Jagged Wolf Hunting: This technique is derived from Rig Hyuga's Snow Wolf Hunting Jutsu, combined with the Glass Style used by Lee's son, Jin. It summon a crystalline ice wolf with jagged glass emerging from its "pelt". When it hits a target, it shatters and each shard becomes a smaller wolf that bites at the opponent.
-Hatake Style: Blazing Sandstorm Burial: A family collaboration originally invented by Rayne, Jin, and Aoi Hatake. Combining Rayne's Sand with Aoi's Wind and Fire Styles, Lee creates a sandstorm of fiery tornadoes. He the combines Rayne's Sand Burial with Jin's Glass Style: Shrapnel Shuriken Jutsu to create a ring of sand with glass spikes emerging from within. He proceeds to enclose it around the blazing sandstorm, and the rest is history.
