Description
Heya guys :]asked if I could make a step by step guide of how to draw the body in anime style.
So here it is!
This is my very first tutorial and although this is in the style I draw, most of the fundamental basics still apply.
I tend to sometimes draw with a fashion illustration influence (lengthening the neck and limbs specifically) cause I learnt a lot about the human figure and proportions during fashion drawing classes in the last two years. But there is one good tip that I picked up, which is as practice try to pick up a magazine or stock image and study the figure in it. Try to visualise the skeleton, how would these lines curve and the direction they flow in. I promise it helps heaps! This not only helps you to improve in proportion but also helps you build up a library for poses in your memory.
I understand it's tough when you start out but don't ever give up! I started drawing in anime/manga style 9 years ago when I was 12 and I couldn't draw fingers for nuts o_o I swear they were nothing more than blobs (think powerpuff girls xD) and the feet I drew..don't even get me started orz (think PPG again). I also learnt a lot from the 'Complete Idiots Guide to Drawing Manga' book my cousin gave me for christmas when I was 12 and they roughly talk about the same basics too, like thinking in shapes and lines as you construct your figure.
Sorry if I've typed too much but I just really wanted to explain as best as I can (TT - TT)
I hope this was somewhat helpful and if you have any questions at all, feel free to comment below and I'll be sure to get back to you!

hi, sorry for the late reply!
Based on my own personal experience with drawing, I would recommend doing sketches and studies whenever you can-either from photographs or life. It also helps to break down complex figures into simpler forms/shapes or even just turn them into stick figures to learn the main pose/structure. Drawing reference/guide books are helpful as well, but really sit down with it and go through the steps to get the most out of them. Try to apply the guides by drawing it out for yourself and then comparing the results to observe what can be improved.
I hope this is helpful, if you have any other questions feel free to reach out and I'll try my best to help c:
