Description
The world's first ballistic missile, and the ancestor of modern day rockets. These rockets were developed by Nazi scientist, Dr. Wernher von Braun, under Hitler's Wunderwaffe (Wonder Weapons) program. Unlike the V1, the V2 was faster and had a higher altitude, making it impossible to be shot down. The V2's had a sophisticated fueling system for its time. One tank contained a 75% water/alcohol mixture for the fuel, the second tank held liquid oxygen to assist in fuel combustion. However, like all other Nazi super weapons, the V2 was introduced too late to turn the tide in Germany's favor. Captured V2 equipment and scientists contributed greatly to both the Soviet and American space programs during the Cold War.
