From Mew to Mewthree: The Evolution of the Rocket Clones (A quick chart that shows/compares Mew, MissingN0 Origin, Glitch01 Origin, Mewtwo (and his three megas), and Mewthree)

You know, I find it kinda funny that I always submit MissingN0's Origin form before I submit his Phantom, even though his Phantom would be the more common of the two... Not sure why that is, but at this point I'm too used to doing it to stop. So anyways, here's MissingN0 Origin take 2! Well, officially anyways, I did kinda spoil it in that Rocket clone lineup thing. Actually I may um... I may have had this sitting in my Sta.sh since November of last year... Typing is hard

So I know people are going to comment how he's basically just Mew, and when they do, I'll have to smack them with a rolled up newspaper for not actually checking the description for the why. The why is simple; MissingN0 was genetically closer to Mew, being an earlier clone. He's kind of an "inbetween", being a mix between Mew and Mewtwo but leaning more heavily towards the former. The arms are longer, the fingers are larger, the tail is shorter, the body is bigger, the neck more prominent, the chest more defined, and so on and so forth. His color is also just a tad bit darker than Mew, starting the progression from pink to purple, and his eyes have become more pointed, with well defined pupils absent in Mew (You can see all this in the chart posted above in the related links).

So basically it goes like this; Mewtwo was not the first attempt at cloning Mew. Far from it actually. He was, however, the first to survive, as stated in the movie. You don't just grab dusty ol' fossils, dig DNA out, enhance it, and turn it into a Pokemon on the first try. Heck, just cloning in general is going to take a few attempts. And attempt Team Rocket did. Hundreds of clone attempts were made, all with varying degrees of success, but all dying in the end. The earliest attempts didn't even make it past the "egg" stage of development. Then came MissingN0, who at that point was unnamed other than the attempt number. MissingN0 was actually the first clone to survive past the first trimester, which was a huge stepping stone in the project. But of course he still died, his organs growing at a faster rate than his body leading to his untimely demise. Plus a number of other complications that come from trying to play God. So, despite their disappointment, Team Rocket scratched MissingN0's attempt number off the list and tried again.

"So what's this got to do with MissingNo?" you may ask. How on earth does this Mew-wannabe relate to the famous glitch Pokemon everyone is so familiar with? Well, that part comes after death. See, while his body may have died, MissingN0 didn't leave entirely. For whatever reason, whether it be his Legendary genes or the extreme emotion he felt while he was dying, MissingN0 came back as a ghost. A very glitchy, distorted ghost. Being created in a lab by technology and being surrounded by electronic equipment may have factored in his new abilities, being able to cause distortions in reality and wreak havoc on electronics, causing very similar effects to those seen in the original games, although no one really knows for sure. When he first manifested after "coming back" he wreaked havoc on the lab, which threatened all of the lab's data and nearly got the cloning project shut down completely. But, Mewtwo exists, so obviously this didn't happen. I'll talk more about that in the Phantom form though, gotta save something for that.

In the games, MissingN0 would only be able to revert to the Origin Form if given an item called a time flower, which is normally used to revert fully evolved Pokemon back to their basic stage as long as this item is held (Another more common item is a time crystal, which only reverts an evolved pokemon back one stage). Otherwise, he's stuck as a glitchy ghost. He actually shares this trait with a few other "altered" Pokemon, such as his counterpart Glitch01, Eowenah, Shadogaire, and even Giratina (Giratina won't gain any of the benefits of the Griseous Orb, though, so giving him a time flower is kinda a downgrade :/ ).

So yeah, I think that's it for now. I'm working on the descriptions of the other clones RN, so I'll be trying to get them submitted here soon (although you can see the images themselves here ), so stay tuned. Or maybe not, I get distracted pretty easily...

Chromium: While it would have been stronger than Mew, MissingN0's sweet temperament and playful behavior likely would have resulted in rejection by Team Rocket. It died before that could happen, however.

Titanium: In the origin form, it seems to retain most, if not all, of Mew's powers, along with its playful personality. This personality might have resulted in termination had MissingN0 actually survived to full term.

Coniferous: The first clone attempt that offered Team Rocket real promise, it developed complications that proved fatal in the end. Had it survived, it would have been only slightly stronger than its parent species, Mew.
