Description The Coma Star Cluster (AKA Melotte 111 and Collinder 256) is a very broad star cluster in the constellation Coma Berenices. Its brightest stars form a V-shape, which you can see in this astrophoto taken through my binoculars. The cluster originally represented the tuft of fur on Leo the Lion's tail, but Ptolemy III for his wife Berenice II, who cut off her hair as a votive sacrifice.
