I'm sure it doesn't matter what style the eyes are, so long as it still looks like a Pikachu. I use my own style of drawing pokemon and they normally come out pretty well.

So what exactly constitutes as a bad tutorial? Would like to know so that I can avoid any of the pitfalls.

Oh just the obvious things I guess. Like, if you are going to try to teach someone how to do something, shouldn't you already be quite proficient in that area?
I just don't like the tutorials where the writers themselves could use a few lessons on what they were trying to do. However, I'm sure you won't run into them though, you have great technique!

Well in all honesty I still have TONS more to learn. But i try to get a grasp of the subject I'm teaching, then find out the areas to note and how to break down some steps to make it easier for others to understand.

XD so cute! And easy! you should do a tutorial on snorlax from different angles i know he should be easy but its hard to imagine his shapes from any angle than the front

*Googles Jirachi* I see what you mean. It does Seem to be complicated but at the end of the day all you have to do is break it down into basic shapes.
I'll take note to slot this into my list of future tutorials! Though it will take awhile since it's a rather long list.
Some advice for the moment:
Draw a circle for the head. Then drow a cross in the middle of face.
Draw a triangle on top.
The middle of the face is approx where the top triangle ends.
Draw two more triangles (kinda like ears) on both sides.
Draw two ovals at the side.
Then just add three strips of rectangles oneach triangle tip.
Well that's just for the face. I'm afraid if i start on the body, this comment would be a mile long! So sorry for the long windedness!

Personally i think it looks kinda distorted, so i showed it to my friend who wanted me to do this tutorial. He said he wanted to smack me on the head for being such an anal perfactionist.

As you can tell from this tutorial/walkthrough, I drew everything step by step. Also you can tell that it is not 100% accurate when comparing them side by side.
The official artwork is of course used as a referance for this tutorial. But it was never copied over. Would this explanation satisfy you?
