Description
Tanzanite looks up into Dinnie's eyes, seeing the turmoil there. Her heart breaks a little at the thought of it. Even as her hulking love begins to open her mouth, Tanzanite knows what she has to do."I'm sorry," the purple heroine says quickly. "I shouldn't have asked. I'll just-"
"I kinna be your anchor," Dinnie's voice is firm, stronger than Tanzanite is used to hearing.
"I know," Tanzanite says, and believes she does.
But then, looking up into those eyes, she suddenly understands what Dinnie means. Tanzanite's chest heaves as a soft sob bubbles up from deep inside her. The powerful Scot's hands are on Tanzanite's ribs, lifting her so easily. She reaches forward with one purple glove to wipe a tear from where it is forming in the corner of Dinnie's eye.
"No, Summer," the purple heroine makes a croaking sound. "Please no."
Dinnie doesn't say a word. Their eyes are locked on one another, both glistening with tears.
"But I..." Tanzanite begins before another sob wracks her body. "You don't even know her. It's too... it's too..."
The purple-haired heroine's voice trails off. She cannot bring herself to say the words.
"I'm coming, Christy," Dinnie says, drawing Tanzanite into a firm hug. "And I'll burnthisfekkinplacetothefekkinground if you try to stop me."
"Guys," Jennifer's voice is barely audible above the pounding of Tanzanite's heart. "We knew. That's what we were talking about. Sharpshooter's going to be your anchor."

You ever have one of those moments where the whole world seems to focus in on one spot? A pivotal moment in time where the world beyond seems to shrink around it? That's what I was trying to create here.
God, I love these characters. It makes me feel guilty for what’s to come. I'm going to go cry in the corner for a little bit.
Dinnie/Summer, the love of Tanzanite's life, is the creation of and utterly amazing, like her creator.

Oh! That's a lovely moment, on two counts. (And it possibly makes tactical sense too; given how the ship was apparently summoned, it might not be a good idea to take both the gun and the gem).

Yes, it is probably tactically sound for that reason AND because Dinnie is the most powerful of them all.
But I'm really glad you found the moment lovely.

Thank you! I wanted the blurring effect to be a little subtle.

Yes, in PS. I tried a lot of different levels of blur but liked those subtle one best!

This panel in the series packs emotional wallop like few things I've ever read on dA! The conversing between Tanzanite and Dinnie was so powerful and so realistic, but Jennifer's last sentence there seals the deal by making it an even more powerfully poignant bit of writing.
Just awesome storytelling that goes perfectly with the image. Or is it that the image goes so perfectly with the storytelling? Both are home runs!!!
