As far as I am concerned the absolute climax of Quentin Tarantino's "Kill Bill" saga takes place in the teahouse garden when Beatrix (the Bride) confronts Oren Ishii. I decided to attempt a different take on the subject. I don't usually do anthropomorphics, but I thought that turning the characters into cats would be fun and oddly appropriate. I preserve the prestine moment of silent snowfall before the commencement of the ultra-violence. I prefer beauty over blood. I think I captured the essence of starlight on fresh snow.

I had fun drawing this, but it doesn't seem to have found a market.

A very interesting approach that I think works quite well. Their eyes perfectly communicate their personalities and the background is superb

THANX.
I almost never do anthropomorphic cartoons. When I do, they are usually kitties.
I love working with light and atmospherics. I am presently working on a series of sketchcards of characters from the TRON universe.

Belatedly faved-elegant background & anthropomophizations reminiscent of Stan Saki's "Usagi Yojimbo" series (which certainly didn't skimp on feline samurai/ronin/shinobi/kunoichi *or* formidable female characters).

I actually bought the first editions of the first two years of "Usagi Yojimbo" before anyone outside geekdom had heard of the character. I still have them. Now to get them signed...

I've actually never seen Kill Bill, but I do like the background and the colors on this. n.n The cat in the white on the right is especially beautiful. I love that cat's pose and composition with the background.

The sequence that preceeds this one in the film has GOT to be the most bloody and gross gang fight in motion picture history. This scene is an homage to the great Samurai 1950's films of Kurosawa . It is a lethal ballet. The costumes were painted as exact reproductions from the film so I was obliged to depict Beatrix's yellow outfit. This scene might have worked in black and white.

Fandom and its cliques are truly a fickle thing, especially hereabouts. Sorry if my commentary is a bit underwhelming compared to the feedback some DArters receive for less elaborate works.

I must agree that after the arterial-spraying frenzy of Bea's clash with the Crazy 88s, her showdown with O-Ren was all the more striking for its elegant backdrop and silent intensity. Even its finale seemed downright restrained when compared to the janitorial Purgatory Ms. Kiddo left in the club.
While you did a fine job with the aforementioned backdrop here (particularly the shadows thrown by the gate), I'm even more impressed by the translation of both actresses' expressions: even in feline form, Uma's hard-as-nails scowl and Lucy's deep dark eyes are instantly recognizable (although it's hard to miss that Bruce Lee biker jacket). Given the light-footed grace both combatants exhibit, the choice of animal-avatar is also a wise move...it's interesting how both seem to be tiptoeing on the surface of the snow.

THANX for caring.
I pulled this image up from the bottom of the pile as it is one of only a handful of pictures I have posted with a wintery theme.
I posted the detail from this picture with the hope of drawing attention to this long ignored work. This was one of the very first pics I posted after going on DA. Although I put more than usual effort into the painting, it sank without a ripple.
