Description More of my astronomical art can be seen in my DA "Paleontology & Scientific Illustration" gallery:

It has been a while since I have done astronomical art, so I decided to do some.

This scene is a view from the surface of a smaller than Mars-sized moon of a gas giant that is much closer to its parent star than Jupiter is to our sun. There is more atmospheric dynamism in the gas planet due to incident sunlight than is the case with the solar "Ice Giants" Uranus and Neptune. It is too warm for exotic ices to occur in its atmosphere.

The foreground moon is larger than Titan or Ganymede but smaller than Mars. Lower gravity permits the ripples in the crater lakes to have a higher amplitude than would be seen on Earth.

So would this world be considered close enough to its parent star to be a Pegasid?

Not that close. This system would have an orbital period closer to that of Earth.

High praise indeed. I can read the spine of my copy of Bonestell's "The Conquest of Space" on the shelf in front of me as I sit at my keyboard.
