Description

My brother Thomas M. Alexander is a bird watcher and avocational wildlife photographer. He has spent many years photographing native and migratory birds in the Pacific Northwest. He has generously made many hundreds of his best bird photos available to me as source material for my color pencil renderings.

My method is to crop and edit the photo. I transfer a subdued version onto cardstock. Upon this I overlay by hand a complete drawing in Prismacolor pencil, inks and blenders. Highlights are painted in acrylic. Everything you see in the final version is my new drawing.
