Maleficent recruits Elphaba.What a concept!
When preparing this picture I deliberately emmulated J. Leyendecker's 1916 painting of Medb enthroned from Celtic mythology. Only after I added the raven to the composition did I realize that I had recreated much of the elements from Engres' 1811 painting "Zeus and Thetis".

Thanks for the like. I only added one new picture to this gallery in the past seven years and that was a commission. I still have all of these artworks hanging on the wall in my hallway gathering dust. If there were a market for them, I would create more.
Feel free to write/draw any fanfic/art you want. I do not own these characters. I am pleased if this premise can inspire others.

This really is an interesting concept... I think it really portrays Elphaba's dynamic character. What exactly WOULD she do in order to "do good?" Great work!

I know this doesn't bode too well, but I've been thinking. I've been trying to match the Maleficent Seven to the different archetypes of what TV Tropes calls the "Five Bad Band". Here's the article about it. [link]
As far as I am right now is knowing that Maleficent is definitely the Big Bad.

The number of badies in this group is predicated on the play-on-words of the title of the western movie "The Magnifiecent Seven". It was an Americanization of Kurasawa's "The Seven Samurai".

I have confirmed on my checklist:
-Maleficent is the Big Bad
-Elphaba and Aurora both in the prime spot of Dragon; Elphaba as the first member to join, and Aurora as Maleficent's pet project. One is more versed in spells, the other in physical combat.
-Ivy is the Evil Genius, she's the only scientist of the bunch.
-This leaves Shego, Ember, and Desiree, and the positions of Brute and Dark Chick left. Decisions, decisions.
Please note that this is purely speculation, and you have the final say on this concept.

Yes, I read the item. It is possible to over-analyize cartoons.
The three remaining green gals are all Dark Chicks. They all have back-stories of being good before they were turned.

I was stunned to learn at a recent SF convention that Disney actually has a live action "MALEFICENT" movie in development! Word is that Angelina Jolie has been offered the title role. If this is true Disney is burning itself down from the inside.

I had my OWN notion of Maleficent's back story, but they don't pay me to write about OTHER people's characters.
Now if Disney sets up M.'s motivation as once having been spurned by Prince (later King) Stephen, then I will be awfully pissed!

Hmm...chronologically speaking--unless you take the line that Maleficent is from the Middle Ages, shouldn't it be the other way round? The wicked Witch of the west hit the silver screen in 1939, Maleficent in the 50s...and The Wicked Queen from Snow White is eldest of all (and still the scariest)!
