Thank you! Yeah, went a bit nuts on the background, but I'm a sucker for that! It gives the story scale I think...

Excellent line work! Your varying shading methods are really amazing. I can cite several more artistic influences. And what an alien landscape!? Your art truly rocks! Pun, intended.

damn! Liam, this is just jaw-dropping. the details and all. plus your usual brushstrokes i loved.
how long does it take you to whip up one of these? i mean starting from pagescript, roughs, idea to pencils, brush/inks?
i loved that style of illustrated artwork that doesnt need colors. i hope they release some of your stuff in B&W. like Marvel essentials (your work on man-thing perhaps)or DC showcase.
cheers

Cheers for the kind words. I've thrown everything at these pages!
I guess they're taking between 12 and 16 hours per page on this title. It's slow going!
Very best and take care,
Liam.

I believe it's three times the size of the first...
It looks amazing from what I've seen. Not played it yet. I still can't figure out the bloody controls! LOL! Too many buttons. But then I've never been a gamer, so I'm a little old to start learning...

how old is to old ? lol never to late but its not complicated but more than the first good luck lol
π: 0 β©: 1
LiamRSharp In reply to StealthReaper [2008-11-13 09:31:11 +0000 UTC]
You say it's not complicated, but I can't learn what all the buttons do. Having NEVER played, and being 40 now, I didn't grow up playing games - believe it or not, they didn't exist when I was a kid. It's like learning to drive! I just don't have that kind of spare time either. It just gets frustrating for me. I'm more interested in how it all looks than butchering Locusts too, and I HATE the constantly going back to the start thing...
Whole other mind-set I don't have I guess! But my job is to tell the story, and tell it well!
Take care,
Liam.

LiamRSharp In reply to StealthReaper [2008-11-10 23:53:23 +0000 UTC]
LOL! Can't please everybody I guess! Truth be told, those lancers are a swine to draw. It would be damn hard to make it smaller now though... Hey, it's just a comic. Artistic license and all that...
Cheers.
Liam.

StealthReaper In reply to LiamRSharp [2008-11-11 15:31:45 +0000 UTC]
yea, figured the lancers rather complicated, now draw a maulcher lol or a morter, lol. yea it would be hard to change it now, just thought id say it was not right !

LiamRSharp In reply to StealthReaper [2008-11-11 18:02:49 +0000 UTC]
At some point I have to draw pretty much EVERYTHING in the game... Not easy! LOL!

Say that again when you've drawn the same suit of armor 50 times... it's groundhog day! But I'm not complaining. I LOVE drawing this book.
Best,
Liam.

LiamRSharp In reply to Raliuga999 [2008-11-10 22:00:25 +0000 UTC]
Thank you!
It's about being fluid and organic with the brush, and trying to understand the form of things. My way of drawing is pretty old-school really, people tend to let the colorist do all the shading and light-work these days. But I think it's important as the artist to understand texture and lighting. For me it's what brings this kind of drawing alive.
Take care, and keep working!
Best,
Liam.

I am digging it. great scenery. and the shot of the guy holding up his gun surrounded by the foliage is top knotch. you managed to completely fill the panel with very similar things but keep it very separate.
