Description
Don't look now, folks, but I might be building another Cyberman.Sketching stage, really, trying to work out the look. I went back to the Tenth Planet design for this one, not in style but it terms of components. Skull cap, receiver dish, circular rather than oval theme -- and the most neutral expression I could create. As much as I like the latest armoured design, I do think the faces are a touch too cheerful (I mean, not very much, obviously, but the mouth is a little too smiley). Obviously a modern influence on the cheek-bones.
I think what I want to go for is 'medical' and 'sterile' rather than armoured and clanking. I'll probably eschew the gas-mask trappings this time, maybe see if I can play up the iron-lung influences. Lots of plating but more in the line of arm and leg braces.
Anyway, we'll see where it goes.
The BBC owns Doctor Who and the Cybermen (well, I mean, I own a copy of that book and I was always a little miffed that none of the Cybermen attacking the moonbase had black-painted helmets . . .)

He looks spooky. I wouldn't want to go up against him.

...maybe see if I can play up the iron-lung influences. Lots of plating but more in the line of arm and leg braces.I advise a flexible suit of dull grayish-white rubber and/or spacesuit fabric with chrome-plated metal braces like obsolete orthopedic prosthesis rather than an entirely metallic exoskeletal suit of armor. Sort of like Matt Savage's unused cybermen design or KingWillhamII's Mondas Will Survive .

I'm thinking something a bit heavier duty than those braces - the arms and legs are probably going to be encased - more like the way some limb prosthesis look. I don't overly care for the bagginess of the Moonbase-style suits that Matt Savage drew on for his design. More of a Wheel in Space/Invasion man myself!

"Doodle of the Cybermen" — sounds rather like the title of a classic era story, one in which the Doctor encounters some poor human schmuck, in what seems to be earth's past, who has been sketching these portraits but has no idea what they represent, only for this to prove to be a warning from the future... but not so much that the Cybermen will invade, but rather that the artist and his fellows will soon become them, for the TARDIS has inadvertently landed on Mondas on the eve of calamity! Or so it might go.

ooo now that is a story I would like to see. Granted there was a big finish story in which the doctor did arrive on mondas on the eve of the Cybermen take over just like in Genesis of the Daleks but unlike that, he was trying not to influence things. Anyhow, I would totally love to see a story like you just mentioned told.
