Description
Name: Hack-JackSize: 3 cm
Class: Creature
Habitat: Unknown
Families of veterans lost to the Grimm often wonder why so many people must die when robots can do the job minus the casualties. The answer lies in this tiny enigmatic Grimm.
Β Hack-Jacks are the Grimm's specialists in electronic warfare, capable of hacking even the most secure terminals with ease. This in addition to the electro-magnetic field the emit that makes them nearly invisible to synthetic sensors, and it is no wonder that mankind is forced to fight Grimm in person and on foot.
Little is known about Hack-Jacks beyond battlefield observation as they self-destruct through unknown purposes when killed. It is unknown how they feed, how they breed, where they live, what kind of social structure they have, etc. All that is known is that whenever any kind of synthetic soldier is sent into Grimm territory these bug-like creatures show up seemingly out of no where and turn the robots against their masters. Indeed, more lives have been lost to conscripted machines than have been saved by sending robots in in place of people.
Interestingly, Hack-Jacks never seem to wander into non-Grimm territory. This has brought some wildlife experts to believe that Hack-Jacks are entirely defensive in nature, and interesting contradiction to most Grimm.
The name, in case you didn't figure it out, is a play on the words 'Hacker' and 'Hijack', in addition to that hack rhymes with jack and Jack is a common faceless noun.
I got the idea for this after hacking countless spectres in the AWESOME game that is Titanfall

This is one Grimm that Penny should not face against. Imagine what would happen to her electronics if these things attacked her.
Unique idea for a Grimm.

I wonder why (in the canon RWBY universe) they DON'T use machines more often for fighting Grimm? :/

Maybe they lack the funding, or they are harder for them to produce.
Either way, I'd love to see more robots in it. Heck, it would be awesome to see Roman Torchwich bring in some piloted mecha-robots or something during the next time they meet.

RWBY IS based off of anime, and what anime is complete without some mech reference?

Well now in the newer installments, they have. With those police robots and those hulking "Paladin Mechs."

Yep. I guess those kind of throw my Hack-Jack idea out the window XD
I'm actually currently working on a new grimm series. I am as of now calling it my "Hellion" series.Β I don't have a scanner at my dorm, but I will try to get them up when I can.

Wow, it never occurred to me that they could just send robots instead of training people to fight and die. This is an excellent idea for a Grimm.

I think that Penny is the first step to them doing that.

You're welcome! Β Something like this would require a lot of thought to work well, but you seemed to have it down pretty well.
