Description The December entry for this fine charitable project , spearheaded by . Alt. title would be something like "Snowed In" (or would it be "Snowed Out"?).

And don't worry: this is about two seconds before the crook starts stupidly firing a few rounds into the ceiling and our intrepid duo takes notice. Vaguely Misanthropic Hilarity EnsuesTM!

Countless gradients and work paths gave their lives in the creation of this piece. May we never forget.

Look at all those empty wrappers and boxes. I wonder how long they've been sitting there.
Great picture.

I love the you made the lights form the moon, and the inside of Snucky's reflect on everything else.

Stupendous work!

You're very much welcome. The fact that you chose blues instead of blacks for the darker parts really adds to the affect of night time also.

Awesome, but what's with the bandage on Sam's hand? Did he get REALLY into a Fudgy Freeze?

Thanks! And not quite (though you wouldn't be the first one to guess that!). Sam hurt his hand entwining the barbed wire into the Christmas wreath. FWIW, the backstory to that as posted in reply to ~crfh-maritza below:

"In short: The wreath was a gift from Grandma Ruth -- for the express purpose of Christmasing up the DeSoto -- and they didn't want anyone to louse it up. Max heard holly berries were poisonous so he added those and the note to it. Sam knows they're just mildly toxic to humans and safe for most vermin, but he doesn't tell Max. That said, Sam does install the barbed wire himself because, dammit, it's a gift from his Gram-Gram and he's not going to let anyone mess with it."

Annnd there you have it.

Whoops! Missed that first discussion line that I now see upon closer inspection. And the wreath! I need to pay more attention to these things instead of deducing how to draw Sam & Max in such a variety of poses. D:

I can never eat Popsicles or anything in the wintertime. It just gets too cold :c

I get cravings for ice cream all the time during the winter. But then I live in Southern California, so I don't know if my opinion counts for anything on that point. :I;;;

If South Cali got to -10 in wintertimes, then you wouldn't want ice cream.

In any case, Sam should really be having some hot apple cobbler instead. It would make him feel so much better! [/enabler and also I'm hungry]

It should be noted that Sam's tongue was partially numbed by the converging factors of the popsicle and frigid air outside, so his evaluation of the crumbly, nondescript bowl of something-or-other he's eating may be ... questionable. Max's observation, however, remains entirely accurate.

Oh poor Sam. But, I guess if he's conditioned his stomach to handle chocolate he can handle pretty much anything. And Max should watch when he says those things around Leah. NEVER TELL A WOMAN HOW MANY BAD THINGS ARE IN HER COMFORT FOOD.

Man, I'm too lazy to use gradients, but maybe I should start, they look fantastic!

I'd really like to know the story behind a Xmas wreath with barbed wire and a "take one, go ahead, take one" sign on it o.O

Light-Rises In reply to lagofiend [2011-01-23 00:22:51 +0000 UTC]

Try 'em sometime! I really like the effect between cel and "soft" shading they achieve, and I'd love to see that combined with your brushwork.

In short: The wreath was a gift from Grandma Ruth -- for the express purpose of Christmasing up the DeSoto -- and they didn't want anyone to louse it up. Max heard holly berries were poisonous so he added those and the note to it. Sam knows they're just mildly toxic to humans and safe for most vermin, but he doesn't tell Max. That said, Sam does install the barbed wire himself because, dammit, it's a gift from his Gram-Gram and he's not going to let anyone mess with it.

... More or less.

Hahaha, that's an even better story that I could ever imagine! I thought they had stolen it somewhere, despite the barbed wire!

I should look for a tutorial on gradients...
