Taiyang: I was doing it for FAMILY, Birdbrain!
Raven: THAT'S IT!
*Raven chases Taiyang around the homestead as he carries her weapon, Yang gaping in shock as she and Qrow look on.*
Yang: Uh...
Qrow: See, this is why Summer was the leader, and why this *raises flask* has been my go-to for years.
Yang: I'm not sure how that helps...
Qrow: Look, Firecracker. When I'm sober, I'm smart. Which means I remember a hell of a lot of shit that's been done, not a lot of it's pleasant.
Yang: oooookaaaay...?
Qrow: Just roll with it, kiddo. *pulls out another flask, this one with Yang's emblem* here's your other birthday present. Strawberry Sunrise and all.
Yang: *takes it and has a sip, looking out to her parents*
Taiyang: You'll have to take them from my cold dead hands, Raven!
Raven: DON'T TEMPT ME, TAI!

I know that. But you have to admit, if you're scared all the time: You learn to deal with it. And the joke there is that while Taiyang seems like a calm guy, it just makes him all the scarier when he gets both pissed and scared.

I'd also work with showing Yang that fists can beat swords and show her how to harness her fear.

You know, I'm making a fanfic for Taiyang revolving around fear. Maybe when I'm done, you tell me what you liked and didn't?
