To be fair Penny's swords are more of like components of a capital ship size "fuck you up" particle canon.

I'm just waiting for RWBY to have a multi-barreled weapon, because making the melee mode for a gatling gun will be interesting...
So many of these weapons gave me shivers when I first saw them used, the staff/nun-chucks/shotguns one especially. (I don't know most of their names ;_; )

Nora's hammer is kinda like a gattling gun that shoots rockets instead of bullets.

Also, good on you for having an OC for RWBY, that weapon sounds great :3 how'd the ammo be stored? Is it built-in, or is a belt feed attached when it's shooty time?

Actually, it's not a RWBY OC.
As to how the ammo works, the belt feed is actually coiled inside the gun. Since it's a hammer, the entire body sort of looks like an octagonal-base cylinder with a handle sticking out the back. It's segmented into plates so they collapse into each other when it transforms so the "radius" is twice but the length is halved. There is also a protrusion at the back in hammer form where the bullets are stored. Unfortunately, there's no rapid fire function in hammer form, but it can discharge eight bullets at once out the head, sort of like Wyvern's Fire o the Gunlance from the Monster Hunter games.

I consider a "gun" as anything that fires anything using a propulsion mechanism, be it mechanical or through dust, semblance, ect.
Myrtenaster has a Revolver barrel in its hilt used to fire six types of dust.
Penny's swords can be turned into individual guns or even made into a laser cannon.
