The trip to return Brynmor to Atoya hadn’t quite gone as Myel had hoped. Nearly halfway back, Maria had dismounted Myel and sent him on his way to finish his dominance quest. He pouted but rather than convince Maria to take him with, it simply earned him a smile and a pat. Shortly after that Myel’s rider had taken Brynmor by the reigns and led him off.

Myel was alone after that. He wandered aimlessly for a while – not entirely sure where exactly his next challenge would be. After an hour or so his stomach began to rumble so he set off toward a forest in the distance.

He galloped into its embrace but quickly slowed to a walk. The forest was eerily silent. Myel could hear things moving now and then but could never spot them. He had half a mind to turn around and leave when a Tokota appeared before him like a ghost. Myel looked around, surprised. The Toko that stood before him was Nanook. His black fur stood in stark contrast to the snow covered forest around them. How had the piebald male not seen him approaching? Especially since he was blind now – or near blind. Myel wasn’t entirely sure.

Nanook released a small bark before turning and walking away from Myel. It was clear that he was meant to follow the old starter. As they walked deeper into the forest – past many leafless trees – he began to wonder if maybe he’d stumbled onto his next rite.

As still pools began to appear more frequently the further they went, Myel was becoming more certain that they were headed for the Soul Pool. He glanced up at the trees around him. If that were the case he had made his way into the White Forest.

Suddenly Nanook came to a halt without warning, nearly causing Myel to run into the back of the old Tokota. The young male stumbled back a bit and shook out his fur. He cast his eyes across a particularly large pool and spotted the same white wolf from before staring out at him.  It lowered its head, seeming to smell him, and then began to head off toward the soul pools.

Nanook stepped to the side and looked in Myel’s direction. He would go no further.

Myel walked past Nanook, hesitated, but continued on when still he didn’t move. Now he had to try to follow that elusive wolf again. This time things seemed to be going a little differently though. The wolf would disappear from sight but would then wait for Myel to catch up before darting off again. This continued on until they finally came across some mountains hidden within the White Forest. In one’s side, a path led to a cavern opening.

The wolf quickly trotted onto the path. This time it didn’t wait for Myel as it ran into the cave. Myel stared up at it for a moment longer before setting onto the path himself with his tail raised. He was ready.

Oh man, this is so incredible. Such a great palette, and it honestly looks like an illustration out of a storybook. Beautiful work!

Thank you! ; 0; Limited palettes are my weakness. |D I try not to do them too often though or that's all I'd do. |D

Honestly I'm the opposite and should try and use more limited palettes for once, haha. I still love it and all of your art! <3
