Prompt: Your Tokota is mysteriously stranded in foreign territory, be it another part of Tokotna or some place even more exotic/foreign, such as a poacher's den, a zoo or a desert on the other side of the globe. They must discover a way to either survive in their new surroundings or find their way home.

It had seemed a feasible task – swim across the inlet to the plentiful prey herds on the other side. Scott had thought luck was on his side when he’d seen the sea ice. It was early for the year but it would mean he’d be able to stay dry and that his deer shadow could accompany him.
The first steps felt safe enough albeit the surface of the ice rather slick. The big dire surmised that some big waves may have just splashed over them the night before. It was no problem for the Tokota’s wide padded feet but the deer cried out as its body crashed into the ice.
Scott paused to look back, ears alert, to ensure the deer hadn’t fallen into the water. To his relief it was simply sprawled out, legs in all directions, on its belly. The dire emitted something akin to a huff before gently helping the deer to its feet. It would be a slow journey across the ice. There was no grip the deer could find – only very careful steps with a steady body to fall into for assistance.
Behind the pair, the colorful buildings of Coastal Pilitak began to fade with the distance and an ever-thicker fog that had begun to roll in. It made seeing their destination across the way difficult until finally it was gone. Only vague shapes were visible through the thick fog.
Scott’s previously confident steps became hesitant. It was hard to see which way the ice was strongest. Just as he and the deer stepped on another piece of the ice shoved into the inlet, a loud crack was heard. The dire braced himself as the ice rocked and grabbed hold of one of the deer’s antlers to keep it from falling into the water.
They began to float out to sea. Scott’s irritated growls echoed across the water for some time until a strange splash caused him to grow silent. The companions looked around, startled. They spent little to no time near the ocean and so were not familiar with what lurked within its depths.
A deep, guttural growl began rumbling in Scott’s chest as a huge shadow came into view beneath the surface. Just as it faded down into the depths again, a loud burst of air was heard behind him. He spun around with such ferociousness that he nearly knocked the deer into the water but it was careful to stay back from the edge.
A dorsal fin and dark black back peeked above the water for only a few moments before disappearing beneath the surface just as the first had. Things began to happen quickly after that. One of the huge fish bumped into the ice – hard. It sent the deer falling to the cold surface again. Scott flashed his teeth at the passing form of the beast.
There were three that he could see, circling their little piece of ice, occasionally showing their heads as they eyed the two. The giant fish knew the Tokota and deer were helpless where they stood.
Scott did his best to keep them in his sights, baring his fangs at them each time they came to close but suddenly they all disappeared. The surface of the water seemed to calm and the world went silent around them.
The dire’s fur bristled. Why would they just go away? Something wasn’t right.
A peculiar sound reached his ears. He turned to seek out the source and found a growing wave heading their direction. The Tokota called out in distress as the wave crashed over the ice, nearly knocking both into the water and sending the ice rocking violently back and forth.
Just as they’d recovered, another wave came at them from a different direction. Scott scrambled, he’d lost his footing and he felt his back paws touch the water’s surface.
This time his deer companion coaxed the dire safely back up on the ice. The two stood back-to-back, resolute. They would not be knocked into the water to become their prey.
They stared out at the shadows again as the ice drifted. Nothing would stop them from surviving this.

oooo
Using Orcas? That's unique!
I always placed Tokotas on top of the food chain and completely forgot that Orcas existed for a little while. I should never have forgotten them.
This reminds me a little of what they do to get seals off the ice.
The ice and water look so well done here, on that note. <3

Yeah! I imagine Tokotas would be in a similar spot on the food chain as Polar bears in the Arctic. So they could take on whales (albeit maybe just younger orcas + belugas) but could fall victim to a pod of Orcas hunting them similar to how they'd hunt a seal since Tokotas probably aren't as adept at swimming as Polar Bears are.
It was a lot of fun though x3 Thanks!

Gorgeous!! I love the tension of the scene and the setting ;o; somehow I don't see people draw whales often in the tokotas universe?? They look amazing here. And Scott is so brave, defending his little deer friend
Thank you so much! I can't wait to see what else you end up doing for these
